I would assume that would be if you are adopting a female. That is to make sure that they won't get pregnant. It might also just be a template they have for listings and don't chage it, because I know I have seen that too.

Thanks I got it now! I also have been reading some more of the forum info but boy is it confusing. Since we are looking at getting another guinea was reading up on the whole neuter/not to neuter thing. I am so confused because when I look at "pet adoptions" for rescue some say...only to a home with an existing neutered male but the site says..neutering isn't needed...help??!!

When you enter a particular forum, there is a new thread button on the left side, directly across from the page numbers.

P.S. things like this are better asked on the forum, not in your profile.

    Guinea Pigs Social Life

It is perfectly fine to put two pigs together, in fact it is very important that pigs be kept in pairs or more. Make sure to find a rescue or shelter, or from a reliable.non-breeder from craigslist. Also, make sure they are the same sex or one is neutered/spayed.

If you have a male, they tend to get along better when they are different ages anyway. You MUST have at least a 2x4 grid cage for two males or I can almost gaurantee that they will fight. Bickering is normal at first as they will need to establish doiminace but DO NOT remove unless blood is drawn.

Also, before you introduce a new pig make sure you QUARANITNE for three weeks to make sure the new pig isn't sick and possibly passes it to your old one.
