Hey, are you still looking for another pig? We had 3 guinea pig surrenders in the last 2 days. One I know, is a girl - I sexed her myself. The other two came in yesterday and I havent been over there to check them out yet (heading over tomorrow) but they are listed as a male and a female (though they've been wrong on that before)
Although i finger comb through their hair daily i finally had to trim their back sweeps (butt hair) due to ongoing matts and wetness. I bath them about 4 x year and use a conditioner that you must rince out very well - and then never blow dry them - just let them run in a play pen till dry - 4 hrs or so. Yes, it is an all day event, rent some movies :-). I must confess though when in a hurry, towards the end i do blow dry just thier tummies. Dont' put them back wet or they will pick up shavings in their coat for sure. I also mix paper shabings in with aspen shavings to lessen matts in the coat. In the ideal world you should keep them in Carefresh bedding or paper shredds but it will be more $$$. Also, take them out each day and spritz them with a water bottle and scrunch thier curls after you have finger combed them looking for matts, bedding tangles, ect. It is a lot more work but they are gentle, sweet, calm beauties that are worth the effort. suzy
Oh you can adopt Minnie?? That's fantastic! They are open 11am - 5pm but adoptions stop at 4:30. I would call first to make sure she is there and to express your interest. I would bring a cat carrier (or something similar to carry her in). There is likely an application to fill out and then a small adoption fee. Since there is no vaccinations or microchipping or spay/neuter, she could go home with you that day. :-) Let me know if you can be there and when. I am puppy sitting not too far from there and can try to meet you there because I've never actually met her either. I saw her briefly in the stray room before she went up for adoption.
thank you dotn worry about it, i dotn feel any better really i cant do much till mum money is here :/
You're so welcome about Ellen. I will definitely watch for a Peruvian, too, and will let Rose know to keep her eyes open. Please send photos of Ellen when she's settled so I can ooh and ahh..... I'm really happy you adopted her because I've been really partial to her since I saw her photo.
