oh! i see now! yea i have a big cage and it costs alot to buy the bedding and a PAIN to clean. thank you for all your help! i think ill take your cage as an idea! ill put pics up soon!

If you look in my gallery, you'll see a pic called "cleaning the cage". Our upper level is hinged, so it lifts up out of the way for cleaning. In a cage the size of ours, anything other than fleece would be really impractical. I'd have to get in there with a snow plow to clean out shavings, and carefresh would be prohibitively expensive.
We wash everything in the cage (towels in their own load, and then the rest) in our standard washer, with our normal detergent (no softener) after shaking off the poops. It works.
