We went to Wales and got to Abakhan's gorgeous fabric and textiley shop - Cheap Fabric, Curtains, DressMaking, Wedding,Upholstery Fabrics, Discount Fabrics Shop-Abakhan Fabrics UK, and spent an hour in there, buying fleece by the kilo and lots of sock wool (impulse buy!!). The only problem was trying to narrow it down, but now we are home I am already looking for more fleece to give the cage the bling factor!

Today I went to B&Q to get something to cut the grids for the external ramp.
I had thought I would need a Dremel (rotary cutting tool) - as a lot of people on here mentioned that they had used a Dremel to cut the wire, however I have managed to find a cheaper alternative.
I got a set of needle files (really small files for metal) in a pouch, and a padsaw. This is basically a hacksaw, but instead of the bow shaped handle, the saw blade has a handle like a knife. These...

My cage is nearer to finishing, and is now occupied by a herd of four stuffed toy guinea pigs, who are currently modelling the new almost finished hayloft and posing on the ramp!
The last bits of perspex arrived yesterday, so really a lot quicker than I expected - I thought they would turn up today, so now I have to do the ironing instead of cage building, sigh.
The perspex is all now in place on the cage, and looks great. The ramp to the hayloft is up, and just needs...

I have just finished ordering the last of the perspex for the cage - I have ordered a piece to fit across the front of the hayloft like a glass wall, which has a large round hole in it so they can get in and out - there will be a ramp leading down to the second storey of the cage. There are also three pieces to make a ramp, which will also have a covering on the base part to give grip - possibly rubber matting or a fleece mat that will fasten on securely.
The front hayloft wall should...

I ordered some perspex online on Friday last week, and today it arrived.
I got three perspex panels that form walls to the hayloft. There is one mirrored perspex panel that is about the size of a grid, which fits the back of the cage, then another mirrored panel that covers the back of the hayloft, and is two grids wide and one grid high, and then at the front a clear perspex panel that goes at the front of the cage to form a three sided box.
