When my mother found out I got guinea pigs as pets, she rushed out to a pet store and bought a cage. I told her not to, and told her to return it, but she refused. I've used C&C cages from the start. Anyways, I started to use that as my traveling. I can 4 pigs in their for a 90 minute trip. I also have a little trouble maker pig (when she is in close quarters), so she gets her own carrier. It's the one I use for me I go to the vet with one of the pigs. I also make sure to put a towel at least half way over the pet store cage, so the light doesn't bother them. They all travel in the back seat. Before that I would use laundry baskets. They never tried to climb out because of all the movement of driving. They settle down quite quickly, snuggle up against each other and fall asleep.

Thanks! Bodie, my boy, is my avatar and profile picture. For me, it's not hard to take care of them. I have a lot of extra time on my hands, so all my extra time goes to them for the most part (when I'm not on this website!). I would say that the hardest thing about having 5 pigs is traveling with them. I live in an apartment and am going to college. Occasionally, I have to travel home (which is 90 minutes away) for the weekend. I have to take my pigs with me. Luckily, I made a C&C cage and brought it down there and set it up a while ago, but the whole transportation of the guinea pigs is quite difficult.

To make sure a Piggy is going to a good owner I come do a home visit and see the way they house and feed their other Pig(s) if they own others. If they don't own other Pigs then I will come back to their house in 2 weeks to check up on the adopted Piggy. Then I will come back later to see how everything's going or have them e-mail me with updates, pictures, etc. I haven't had any problems so far. I also help them build a c&c cage if they don't know how and educate them the best I can about how important it is to give daily veggies/fruit, space, Vitamin C, etc. All my Pigs have gone to excellent homes so far!

Hey, I saw your comment on my profile. Caring for 10 Piggies isn't very hard, but you must be dedicated to it. I have people that volunteer with me because I work alongside the Humane Society in my area where they call me if they have any piggies. I run a small independent rescue that takes in 1-2 Guinea pigs at a time. But my 10 Piggies are all rescued, so it's worth everything, but I can say: 10 Guinea Pigs = A LOT of fruits/veggies!

Yesterday Scruffles had to go to the 'scary' (in his case) vets! He's got a UTI , and they had to give him a painful injection. The vet had to go with another vet in another room because he was struggling so much! He made very loud and scary squeaks, because that must of been terrifying for him! If he only new that would make him better..
I have to give him antibiotics every 12 hours now, and he doesn't like it at all! But it's worrying me because he didn't eat his vegetables in the morning...

A few days ago I made a pink-spotted cuddle cup for Scruffles, my male guinea pig . I've caught a photo of him laying in it, but you can't see him that well because he's black!
Also, I just made a social group for all the crafty piggy mom's, so if anyone has made anything for their piggies, they can share their creations!
