Bring what you can as it is very hard to find anything here for Guinea Pigs. I finally found a website that I can purchase food from as I had mine send from a friend in Illinois up till now. (used to live in IL from 98 to 04 - miss it)

I am even having quite a hard time finding a friend for Gizzy as even the SPCA and the NA Animal Welfare both suggested that I contact speciality breeders. Guinea Pigs sell for about R1500 to R3500 here in SA, I got mine from a Breeder in Zambia who came to deliver ordered piggies but he had no home for Gizzy so I saved her from being "dumped"!! So now I am desprate to save another piggy but finding it hard so bring as many friends for your guys as you can.

Mr Price home has just started their BowMiaou range for small pets and hopefully they will extend it to small exotic pets as well - that is where I got Gizzy's pink play tent from for R99! Not bad.

Hope you have an amazing day in the US of A!

    Hi there !
I saw your reply on the post about moving with my guinea pigs.
Well, sadly, most airline companies changed their policies (liked 2 months ago) and only accept small dogs and cats in the cabin. My poor piggies will have to be in the hold...
I hope you can find another company or that they will change their pet policies, because this is so absurd ! Why a dog, cat, bird, but not a guinea pig or a hamster ?
Well good luck ! I know how you feel, I would hate to have to rehome my girls just because of a move !

I basically took info from here and guinealynx from people who fed things and how often they fed them, then studied the various nutrients in the veggies. I don't have a degree in pig nutrition or anything and am basically a self titled "diet specialist".

Hi! I just saw on Craigslist someone in Burlingame KS (I have no idea where this is though!) is selling 60 pound bales of prairie hay for 2 dollars a bale!
Thought I'd pass the info along!

    Guinea Pigs
I own 2 males (Popcorn and Pepper)...Popcorn not the most original of names but I love it anyway! Pepper is the dominant boy but scared and Popcorn is the trusting cutie who provides hours of entertainment!
    My Cage
I made the mistake of buying a store cage in the beginning but soon modified it to make a ramp so the cage is their 'kitchen area' and the ramp goes into their play area which more than doubles their area for running around
    My Cage Specs
Constructed Cage (non C&C), Pet Store Purchased Cage, no longer used as main cage, Meet or exceed recommended sizes (see www.CavyCages.com)
