Impatient mummy not sure she's doing things right
Right, so I've had Rosie and Willow for 4 weeks now and last Sunday I notices daindruffy/white-ish/dry/hairless spot around Rosie's eye. On Monday the patch was bigger so I took her to the vet (had to find a good one first and was very nervous hoping I got a good one), I wasn't suspecting mites as she was treated twice by rescue when I got her (then 3 weeks ago) but I was terrified expecting URI (it looked a bit crusty) or ringworm.
The vet was not 100% sure and did not want to do a skin scraping as it was literally around Rosie's eye, vet said it would be painful to do and takes ages to get results. So we treated for mites (just in case) and she gave me baytril for a week as well as an anti-fungal shampoo.
Rosie is eating same as before, pooping etc all fine, happy to lie in my lap (although a complete nightmare trying to syringe feed the baytril).
Now I have some questions for advise but before I ask them I just wanted to note that the area does not seem painful to the touch for Rosie, and also she does NOT seem to be scratching it. She doesn't really seem bothered by it at all (but it definitely isn't right)
How long should it take for the anti fungal shampoo (once a week) to start reducing the area affected? The patch IS getting bigger compared with last week (had one treatment) but since it has started the patch is only about 2cm/1inch big. I think it is most likely fungus as she has had the stress of moving to us as well as pretty unusual hot weather for the UK last week which seems great growing condition for fungus. Ps I don't think it is ringworm as it is not red/pink at all and Willow + humans are fine.
Do you think I should return to vet for more baytril? I don't think it is a URI as I nderstand I should've started seeing results after a week of baytril. Also, because she doesn't scratch it, there is no infection. I don't see the point much in continuing to put her through feeding it unless you think it is good to continue 'just in case'?
If it is not mites/fungus/URI, the only other thing I can think of for the daindruffy symptoms is just dry skin but I don't understand where the hairloss and the progressing bald patch come from. I've had a look at gorgeous guineas site for ointments etc, would you recommend for me to put something on the patch?
Would like your opinions if possible. I am a new cavy owner, very stressed about the situation and not sure if I am doing it all right :( I guess I wasn't mentally prepared yet to have one of the cavies getting 'Ill' only after 3 weeks of being mine.
Ps sorry no photos (on iPad)

Don't go back for more Baytril. Antibiotics have their own dangers in guinea pigs, and you don't want to give one unless you're sure it's needed.
I'm not sure the once-a-week shampoo will take care of it. See http://www.guinealynx.info/fungus.html for information on how to treat a fungus. FYI, ringworm IS a fungus, but that's not to say that's what this is.

Thanks. I think I've been living on that guinealinx page this week. I'm aware ringworm is a fungus (I've seen it before and it just doesn't look like Rosie's specific patch)
I'll take her back (not for baytril, thanks for the advise) to see if the vet can provide any of the other treatments like oral. No idea how long fungus takes to clear though :(
