    Re: Anya due anyday???

Still no babies but I found my stethoscope and listened to her belly last night, not sure what I am hearing but something thumped the scope hard and it sounds like something is moving, unless its bowl sounds but I can't hear the same sounds in my other female....so uncertain....but 4 days left to the 72 day mark. Has anyone everyone heard of a pig going overdue?? I mean not just miscalculating, like seriously overdue?

    Some guinea pigs go over.

There is usually always sound coming from a guinea pig's abdomen. There should have food moving through at all times.

Just wait. If she's pregnant she will have babies or else you will see her in a bad way and take her to the vet. If nothing happens in a week take her to the vet to check for cysts.

I have not noticed elongated nipples in pregnant females. Usually it happens after the pups are born.

    Re: Anya due anyday???

Well today is day 72 of when I brought her home, still no babies. I know that everyone is saying she will have them when she thinks they are alone, problem is, there is always someone home (my parents and brother live with us) and they are up at various times of the day and night. So I don't know what to think, but I do know that I have felt outward kicks and hear chattering, everyone in my house has heard the same noises.

So stressing out just a bit but finished the baby proofing just in case. Kinda wish she would do something. I miss holding her.....:weepy:

Well it is 3 days past the 72 day mark, still no babies. She started squeaking and jumping in her cage for no reason yesterday. She would be sitting there munching on hay or taking a siesta and then just give this little squeak, jump and then lay down again. Don't know what to think no more......

No she did not have any babies. I took her to the vet on the 10th and they said she has bloat. Giving her the medicine that they gave her but no change in size or behaviors (IE: eating drinking cranky etc). She seems fine though, she still lays down a lot though. So don't know what to think......

Unhappy Doc said bloat, medicine not making a change, FRUSTRATED

So after months of thinking my Anya was pregnant, she did not produce babies. I waited a week after the 72 day mark and nothing. So I took her to the vet and they said she has bloat and put her on medication. This is day 3 of the medication and no change. She is still VERY rounded, she lays down ALL the time other then to get food and water. She is still somewhat testy with the other girls but that seems to have calmed down some. However, her eating and drinking seem to have increased.

I don't know what to think. Day before yesterday I filled their water bottle and by the time I went to bed that night (around 11pm) it was empty cause Anya sat there and kept switching between the pellets/hay and the water bottle. She even sleeps by it instead of in her pigloo which is on the same level.

I am giving her medicine and read that if you put them on a vibrating pad that helps work out the gas, so I have been doing that as well. She still poos and pees just fine and its not strange in color or odor. I have stopped the veggies per doc orders to see what might be causing the gas. Still nothing.

Help or advice would be grateful.

If she's eating and drinking, bloat is unlikely. Bloat is painful, very painful, and most pigs won't eat or drink.

What has her weight been doing over the past several weeks? And does her stomach sound hollow when you tap on it?

I'd be suspicious that it was ovarian cysts, myself.

I merged your threads. Please keep all your posts about one sick/pregnant pig in one thread -- it makes it much easier to follow and respond.

Doc said not all pigs will stop eating. IDK. She wont let you touch her belly so I know its painful, plus if I do her squeaks get higher in pitch. Yes her belly does sound hollow and what I thought were babies moving, according to the vet, was gas bubbles. Her weight has not changed in the last 3-ish weeks. She is sitting at a little over 1.5lbs. Doc said that was a good weight but to give her more floor time to work the gas out. Which I have done but she will seek out me, my kids or a safe place to just lay down. She don't run around like the others do at floor time. I even went and bought pvc pipe (huge pipe so she could fit in them) to prompt her to get moving and she just crawls inside and lays down.
