Where to go!?
I'm definately planning on getting my 4 week old Guinea pig, Thumper, neutered, but i have a lot of questions. Where do i go to do it? And how can I get the cheapest and most effecient care for Thumper?
ANYONE KNOW CHEAP AND EFFECTIVE PLACES IN GREATER PHILADELPHIA AREA?
Also, how old must he be?
And on average...how much would it cost?

Re: Where to go!?
You mean when he is older? 4 weeks is too young to neuter.
It depends on the vet. It can be anywhere from $100 to $400. Plus an exam fee, pain meds and antibiotics.
Read http://www.guinealynx.info/vet.html and Guinea Pig Neutering, How to Neuter your Guinea Pigs
You should call your local exotics vets and basically how often they do guinea pig neuters to see how experienced they are. And their success rate.
Cheap is not always better. Esp. if the vet botches it due to inexperience.

Re: Where to go!?
Yes, when he is older of course. And fortunately i found a vet that has done 45 guinea pig neuteres since January and he has only ever lost one. I'm still very nervous about the whole thing.
