Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 Hi there. My approximatly 3 yr old male pig had blood around his genitals a few weeks ago and the penis appeared to be cut. I took him to the vet and he was given something to ease any possible pain and had an x-ray done to make sure he did not have any stones. The x-ray came out normal and we had no more issues until tonight. He has fresh (no urine in the blood!) blood coming OUT of his penis. I know this is not caused by fighting and he is acting/peeing/pooping normally. My vet seems puzzled and so am I. Anyone have experience with this? Im taking him back to the vet tomorrow. |

Is he housed with another male? I had one who would constantly mount his buddy's face, and eventually got bitten. His penis bled for a short while, then stopped, and healed with no problems. Did the vet check the urine for a UTI? I'd bed him on light colored towels and monitor--if the bleeding doesn't stop, or he becomes swollen and shows any difficulty urinating, I'd take him back to the vet. |

Thank you for the reply! He lives with another male guinea pig. Im wondering if maybe it is from mounting but he never really mounts on my other males face, just at the backend. I also thought it was strange that this has happened twice this month but never occurred before. The vet did not check him for a URI but he has an appointment for today just in case. I know they were not fighting but my other male had some blood around his face and on his back. The male with the bleeding penis had blood around his genitals and his face. So it would make sense to be from mounting..... Now Im second-guessing if he needs to go to the vet.... (Im very indecisive. :) |

It's possible he may mount the other males face while you aren't around, I can hear my guys running laps and playing dominance games long into the night. |
