I was watching my two guinea pigs all morning. The two of them is in the same hidey home all morning and night. ( They have more than one hidey homes ) I feed them in the morning and in the night. So I put their food out and went to bed. When I got up in the morning the guinea pigs were still in the same place and their food wasnt touched. Usally they would have it eat in about 5 minutes. So I lifted up the hidey home to see if they were ok and they didn't even run away from me like they would usally do if I lifted up their hidey. I picked Molly up and put her at her food and hay and hoped that Milly would follow her. But she just sniffed it and the two of them went back into the hidey together! Is their something wrong with them? |

Loss of appetite and lethargy are not good signs. Can you get them to vet vet ASAP? Other than that, are they pooping, drinking? How are their eyes, their breathing? Does anything else seem out of the norm? Have they had anything new to eat? These are things that might help the vet. A vet visit is the best course of action. Keep us posted. |

They nose seems ok. But their breathing is very fast. I don't know if thats from me picking them up or what. I was giving them Exel food but ran out and I had to feed them Wagg for about 4 days. But I got the Exel food yesterday and they eat it yesterday morning. They are pooping but I don't know about peeing. When I lifted up their hidey a minute ago to check their breathing they ran away from me. So I guess thats something. That could be why their breathing was fast. I don't know. |

They eat their food. But they only took the Wagg food out and left the Exel food. And the Wagg food is the one thats bad for them! I only put a tiny bit of Wagg food in. Maybe they got addited to the sugar in it or something? |

I don't think it's the food. Bad pellets cause primarily long-term problems like obesity. Have you been weighing them weekly, and have they lost weight? If they aren't eating, you need to hand feed them. |

Do you feed them fresh veggies? I don't see you mention in your posts. Are you feeding only hay and pellets? |

No I don't weigh them weekly because I don't have a weighing scales. Yes I feed them fresh veggies every day. No they are not new. I have them a few months now and they eat when I am in the room. They are back to normal now but I'm still going to bring them to the vet to get them checked out. |

You absolutely need to start weighing them weekly. You can get a scale for weighing small objects very cheaply. Weight loss is often the first and sometimes the only sign of illness. By the time pigs start showing other symptoms, they are often extremely sick. |

I bought some very cheap kitchen scales from Argos. In addition, my cooking performance has improved now that I don't estimate the quantity of ingredient, hehe. Good luck with the vet. I'm bringing Galahad to the vet this afternoon as well. |

Wow, this same thing happened to me the other night. I was so scared because normally the two GP's I have run to their nightly vegetables. They just stared blankly at me. There was no "energy" in the cage at all. No movement, no playing. I put in new hay, offered carrots (their fav) and nothing. They had been out of the cage a lot that day being held, and I thought maybe they were tired. I checked on them around midnight, and they were slowly walking around the cage. By the next morning, they were back to normal, and doing sprints around the cage. It really scared me. It hasn't happened again, but it had me very worried. |
