Possible mites, would this be acceptable treatment?

The girls have started acting strangely the past few days, there has been no hair loss but some scratching. And they complain very loudly if I touch their skin. And kind of lie on their sides and twitch which Buffy had done before when I first got her but when she went for a vet checkup I was told she was fine.

I'm going to take them to the vet as soon as I can (probably Wednesday if I can get an appointment, I don't get paid till then, this has really happened at a bad time since it was 'bill week').

I was just wondering if this would be suitable treatment if need be? Just in case I can't get them booked in, I don't want them suffering. I hate the thought of them having to wait until Wednesday as it is.

Equimec Broad Spectrum Worming Paste. Incl Ivermectin - eBay, Other Horse Riding, Horse Riding, Sport. (end time 13-Nov-09 15:22:18 AEDST)

I know that ivermectin is the treatment for mites but this was the only one I could find in Australia.

Just fyi, I checked with the last vet I took Buffy along to when I first saw her having a fit, and they told me they were experienced with guinea pigs. However, this time I am going to take them to a different vet which was recommended to me by a friend who has piggies. So hopefully they will actually treat this problem which I thought had gone away, but she did it again tonight :(

Yes, you can use the horse paste version. Just follow the guidelines on guinealynx and you should be good.

Thanks heaps for your help guys. Hopefully I can get them to the vet before I need to dose them myself anyway, but best to be prepared I thought. Because they haven't had any hair loss but the weird twitching 'fits' are very worrying.
