Question Tips needed for using syringe

Both my new girls have had a respitory infection. This has now cleared up after using antibiotics and administering them orally twice a day for about 10 days.

I've been using a syringe, and the vet still wants me to keep giving them the medicine until the end of this week.

Dolly is getting harder and harder to give medicine to orally everyday! She struggles so much! I've tried wrapping her in a towel and holding her gently but firmly-she wriggles and squeals so much it sounds like we're trying to kill her!

This morning my alarm on my phone went off without warning and Dolly just froze! and I managed to give her the medication straight away because she was so startled.
Do you think this is a cruel way to carry on doing it like this for the rest of the week? (using the phone alarm)
She was fine afterwards, and carried on munching on a bit of green pepper...
I'm just so worried she'll hurt herself with all the struggling when we try to feed her medication any other way...

I think you have to give her her medication any way possible. If stunning her makes that as painless as possible then stun away.

Re: Tips needed for using syringe

It sounds fine to me. Guinea pigs freeze whenever they hear something loud or unusual. They get over it pretty quickly.

On a side note, my pigs squeal when they hear my alarm because they know I'll give them their veggies soon.

Aw, that's so cute.
Mine do it whenever they hear a cupboard door bang shut.
Guess I'll be using the mobile phone alarm technique then! I can't imagine it'll work for long... she always susses me out quickly! she's like an MI5 piggy!

Mine do the same thing! They come sit in the middle of their cage and start wheeking.
