Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0
Hey all, I'm working on getting together some supplies for my future guinea pigs. I am wondering what type of styptic most people use. I have found that there are gels, powders, and pads. I am wondering which is the best and easiest to use. Thanks. |

Pet suppliers such as Valley Vet, Pet Edge and others carry small jars of the powder. You can also use flour or alum (in the spice section) in a pinch. Of the two, alum is the better choice. I believe it may be an ingredient in the styptic formula, although I may be in error, as I don't have a label in front of me and my memory is old. |

Flour and corn starch work just as well and are a lot cheaper. |
