Spurs

One of my piggies had spurs, and I already get rid of them. And I just wondering will spurs grow again or it's just one in a lifetime case?

Re: Spurs

Some people suggest that it has something to do with genetics but I don't really think anyone really knows what causes them.
Good luck. :)

Re: Spurs

Thanks all, i think I should check his feet regularly so I will know when the spurs come back...

By the way, does it hurt him when i remove the spurs? He started making uncomfortable noises when I removed the spurs, and I hate to hear that

Re: Spurs

you can try with some paw paw ointment to soothe after you trim it?
aloe vera is good, but reading a vet manual, aloe vera were mentioned to cause irritation (itches) to guinea pigs.

Re: Spurs

Spurs often come back. They are skin tags basically.

Re: Spurs

Tahiri had one when I adopted her, the rescue showed me how to clip it in case it comes back again. It probably will. She didn't seem too upset at getting it clipped, I think they're a lot like calluses- extra skin that you don't really feel being clipped off.
