I happened to wake up in the middle of the night last night and couldn't sleep so I went down stairs. I heard an odd, rythmic snoring/grunting sound coming from the cage. It wasn't weezy or sneezy at all and very regular. I'd never heard it before so I picked up Buddy (who wasn't happy to be woken at all!) and listened to his chest. His heart beat and breathing were both regular, I couldn't detect any weezing. I weighed him and his weight is normal, he's eatting and active and normal feeling temp. Do piggies ever snore? |

I'm pretty sure any animal can snore. If they lay in a weird position and their airways are partially smushed, it causes snoring. My dog snores so loudly! |

Snoring would indicate an airway obstruction. |

If you're hearing something it means there's an obstruction, as Peggy said. It might only be temporary, but if it keeps up you'll want to get him to the vet. |

Yeah the sound stopped as soon as he got up but I'll definitely keep an eye on him and start weighing daily. |

It's possible. My cat Bugsy snores so loud, it wakes me up sometimes. |
