Phoenix was given an ab today at the vets and he suggested that we give him a liquid supplement. The perscription says to give him 100 ml a day of a supplement from like the drug store. That seemed like a lot to me. Especially considering the syringe I got for the abs is 1ml. How many ml would you give of a liquid vitamin c supplement? |

You would need to figure out the concentration. You would have to know how many mg's of C are in each ml. Cavies only need 10-30 mg/kg daily. If he's still eating veggies including bell pepper, he won't need a very large supplement if any at all. What AB did the vet put him on? You may need to give a probiotic such as acidphilus. |

He is on 0.3 ml of Enrofloxacin twice daily. He said it wouldn't affect his gut flora too much but I was still considering giving him one. He has only had one dose today as I didn't want the doses too close together. I still haven't managed to get him to eat bell peppers. He eats very types few veggies and intros last week didn't go well so the other boys can't influence him. I think I will just use veggies for now though and get him a pro-biotic. Is Bene-Bac alright to use? |

Bene-bac is fine, but I would also give the vitamin C supplement (make sure you give the right amount; a tablet is okay too). Veggies other than peppers that are high in vitamin C are generally not good daily veggies. Keep trying with the peppers--he will eat them eventually. |
