Skinny Causing Scratches

It seems I have yet another skin problem with my skinny pig Pheonix. About 3 weeks ago I found lice on my girls. They had to have come from Pheonix so obviously someone didn't change they're shirt or something in between holding pigs as he is in quarentine still. All of the pigs were treated with revolution to kill any lice and to kill mites if they're were any on Pheonix. Everyone has now had 2 doses and I haven't seen any lice since the first treatment. This makes me pretty sure that he doesn't have lice or mites.

Since I got him he has had dry skin in small areas here and there which I treat with mineral oil. However tonight I noticed that he has dry skin almost everywhere. It's not serious but it's obviously itchy as he has scratched himself and now has little scrapes and cuts. I again put mineral oil on him. It seems like it's not very effective. I just put some on a kleenex and wipe it on his skin so maybe I'm doing it wrong.

Is there anything else I can do for him? I wondered about some sort of natural moisturiser but I don't know what else will help. It's a fair bit of dry skin. Would a bath help or make it worse? Any advice would be great as I haven't dealt with this before and I'm concerned about him hurting hiself from scratching.

Re: Skinny Causing Scratches

Thanks. I checked out the site but I don't really have a way to order on-line. However one of the products is just plain aloe vera gel. Does this mean as long as I find one that is just aloe vera gel with nothing added it is safe to use? Is it okay to use it straight from the plant?

Re: Skinny Causing Scratches

Are you sure he does not have fungus?

Skinnies can be prone to ringworm.

Re: Skinny Causing Scratches

I'm not positive that he doesn't have a fungus but I doubt it. It doesn't look like any fungus infections I've ever seen. It's just a little flaky.
