Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 Wilber has been itching up a storm. I read through the site that Ivermectin was the best to use.. I ordered this. It just came today, and while I'm anxious to use it and see him less itchy, I was wondering if anyone had any advice..? Have you used it in the past? How much do I apply and how often? When should I stop treatment? I have researched this, but I would prefer to hear from experienced users. Thanks!! |

Have you read the information on Guinea Lynx? It should tell you all you need to know. |

I would consult your local exotics vet. Our boys had mites, and were scratching and whining. We took them to the vet. They were both given Ivermectin (dosing of which I forgot, but it was in a needle-less syringe). Personally, I would not dose them myself but rely on a trained vet to do so. After a full cage clean, a bit of brushing and cuddles, and the meds, which they drank down like little champs, both were just fine and showed no bad reactions to it. |

I don't know what the piggy dose is, but we use it in dogs all the time where I work. I must say though, with 250mls you could most likely treat hundreds of pigs!!!! |

If you follow these instructions you should have no problems dosing them. Just make sure you have a scale to weigh them as dose depends on weight. http://www.guinealynx.info/topical_i...n_pour-on.html It's easy and cheaper to dose yourself than having the vet do it. Most vets want to do painful and unnecessary skin scrapings that are very painful for the pigs. Often the scrapings come back with false results as you have to get the right spot. It doesn't hurt pigs to be treated even if it were to turn out they don't have mites. I have no personal experience with the pour on because I use the horse paste when I need to treat but I have treated pigs myself several times with good results. |
