Urine

How gritty is gritty for urine? I very ocasionally see white deposits on my pigs fleece and this morning was one of those nights. Is gritty more like sand or sugar granuals or is the grit even finer than that?

Re: Urine

If you rub your hand over it and can feel anything other than something smooth, it might be too much. You might need to cut back on the higher-calcium foods.

Re: Urine

Every day she gets:
1/8 green bell pepper
1 baby carrot
1 handful of mixed greens (radicchio, romaine, green leaf, red leaf, butter) 2-4 springs of cilantro

2-3 times per week:
slice of cucumber
2-3 springs of parsley when I decide to buy it
when it's on sale red bell pepper (it's 3.99/lb right now!)

This week she is getting 2 slices of macintosh apples and 1 or 2 slices of kiwi for fruit. She is also getting 2 one inch chuck of pumpkin as a special halloween treat this week from out carvings.

Where is she getting too much calcium? i actually sometimes feel like I get her too much stuff with vit. c in it.

I've been trying to find the time to go through ly's sticky with the sample diets but I've got my second round of midterms this week and had 4 exams between yesterday and today and have studied my poor little brain to death and haven't had the chance. (This forum is very bad for my study habits as it is since it's WAY more interesting than psychology!!)

Re: Urine

She gets Oxbow Orchard Grass and the occasional hndful of Oxbow timothy (she tends to turn her nose up at timothy). For pellets she gets 1/8 cup Oxbow cavy cuisine (the timothy based one).

Re: Urine

I don't see where she's getting "too much" calcium either. Maybe Ly will have a better answer for you.

I completely understand, actually at this moment I'm supposed to be writing my psychology paper, and then studying for my midterms!

Re: Urine

Occasionally seeing white calcium spots is pretty normal. Their bodies expell the excess calcium they don't need. If you saw them daily, it would be a different story.

Your diet is fine.
