 Help-Soft poop in new rescued pig Hi, My newest resuce (last Friday) had very soft and smelly poop. It came out in a formation of sorts but instantly would mush. It smelled awful and was lighter in color. I took her to the vet and he did a fecal smear and gave her albon. He took her temp and listened to her chest to rule out URI. Today it is darker but still mushy (after just one dose of albon last night). I cut WAY back on veggies and incresed hay. Should I do anything else? Could this be an impaction? I had a hamster die of that once and am very alarmed right now. I have only had pigs since July so I am very new to this. Any help is welcome! |

| Re: Help-Soft poop in new rescued pig Did the fecal reveal parasites or coccidia or something? Is that why he gave the albon? Impactions are only in males. And they don't cause diahhrea. |

| Re: Help-Soft poop in new rescued pig I did not ask. He has been our vet for years and is like family so I can call him and ask him. I thought albon was an antibiotic...so I have been concerned about her flora. Thanks for the info about impaction...I had a hamster that had diarhea and then bloated up and died very quickly from impaction so I was quite concerned. |
