I am VERY confused about where to find, and how to dose out Ivermectin. My dear Scarlettes skin is VERY dry, flakey, and globs of fur are comming out, not to mention shes itchy. Would Ivermectin be the best route? I haven't seen any lice. If it is, where can I buy it where its not going to be like 300 dollars.

Re: Oh Dear... Sounds like your piggie needs ivermectin ASAP. You should be able to get it online for a decent price, depending on the type, pour on, paste, etc. I've found the paste types pretty cheap like 9 dollars. My piggie has yet to need ivermectin but I was searching up just in case. Here's a good link on dosage, you'll need weigh your love fuzz. http://www.guinealynx.info/topical_ivermectin.html

Re: Oh Dear... I think that might be a little too strong for pigs, it's 1.87% instead of just 1%. You should go to the link Deeanicole suggested, I'm in the same boat as you.

Re: Oh Dear... Yeah you can't give the paste to them straight, you need to dilute it with a vegetable oil.

Re: Oh Dear... Does the box say it can be used for small animals? Cause there's a horse on the box Lol. I think that might mean it's too strong. But I've never used it so I don't know.

Re: Oh Dear... Deen ~ It's considered off label use. And there's a horse on the box cause it's use is to treat internal parasites in Horses, Cattle and other stock animals. But it helps with Piggie mites cause it's a broad spectrum anti-parasitic. No, there will be no directions on the box for treating little animals. That's why the dosing is so important. Hope this helps!

Re: Oh Dear... Ahh, I just figure when I get cat medicine, it has a cat on the box, and dog medicine, a dog on the box. Unless it's like KMR (kitten milk replacer) which has a kitten on the box, but on the back normally says it's other uses for other baby animals. They should really make their directions and it's uses more clear and helpful for these products, instead of assuming that no one will really buy it to treat small animals.

Re: Oh Dear... Horse paste is 1.87%. Injectable solution is usually 1%. Pour-on is 0.5% Follow the directions on this page: http://www.guinealynx.info/ivermectin_oral.html and scroll down to where it says horse paste solution.
