Question Questions about my sick Piggy

Well Gideon (my cavy) had gotten sick and had crusty eyes/nose, wasnt eating, and messy and very smelly and unusual gential area. I took him to the vet and they gave me Critical Care to feed him and Baytril(sp?) Ive been doing everything like they said but he still wont eat or drink anything unless I force feed it to him. He hates teh taste of the Critcal care and I was wondering if theres anything I can do to make it taste better. Also if theres anything I can give him like canned moosy carrots or baby food or anything else that maybe he could eat along with his critical care for more of a treat or something he would like better. Also since he is sick he only stays in his pigloo. I was wondering if maybe hed rather have a towel rather than bedding for comfort or anything. Any ideas for his comfort and health are greatly appreciated!

You can add some baby food in for flavor if you need to. Just use veggie flavored or fruit flavored ones. Stay away from canned veggies.

Are you mixing the critical care with plain pedialyte? If not, you may want to because it will help better than plain water.

I have been using regular water to mix with the Critical Care, but also syringe feeding him pedislyte. Also can he have flavored pedialyte or only plain?

Re: Questions about my sick Piggy

Einstein loved the Gerber organic fruit blends. His favorite was apple mango kiwi. He wasn't a big fan of anything with banana, though. But each pig has different tastes--some pigs like canned pumpkin (plain pumpkin only, not pie filling), some like butternut squash baby food, some like green bean baby food, etc. Just check to make sure there's no sugar in the baby food, or anything other than fruits, veggies, water, and vitamin C.
