We just came back from the vet. Squeeky has a UTI from the urinalysis and is on an antibiotic and metacam for pain. He normally lives with his son, Rusty. Should we quarantine Squeeky until he is better? If we do, we'd be able to keep track of his urinating, drinking, eating, etc. Also, is it a concern to have a sick piggy be around another piggy's waste as well as his own? (We do daily cage cleanings.) But we're concerned that if they are separated, we might have difficulty putting them back together. Thanks for your help.

Re: Squeeky has a UTI - quarantine or not? I don't think there is any reason for separation.

Re: Squeeky has a UTI - quarantine or not? Agreed. My pigs have had several UTIs. I have never quarantined (nor has the vet ever told me to) and it's never been passed from one pig to another. I do usually try to change the bedding a little more frequently just so there isn't bacteria sitting there for so long.

Re: Squeeky has a UTI - quarantine or not? You may want to bed them both on white towels to monitor his output. Otherwise, UTI isn't really contagious but may help monitor him better for the time being.
