Cataracts Has anyone had any experience with cataracts? I took Toff to the vet for what I thought was an URI (and she is now on ABs for that) and druing the examination the vet found a cataract in her left eye, taking up about 2/3s of the eye and another in the middle of her right eye. Being not even one I am looking into ways to getting rid of at least the big one (obviously through surgery), and the risks involved in doing so. If anyone has any experience or opinions to share -- they would be greatly appreciated. I have attached a photo of her left eye, the cataract is the "film" type thing you can see going through her pupil and down to the right.

Re: Cataracts Guinea Lynx :: Eyes I'm sure you've already checked it out anyway, but just in case. I did a search for guinea pig cataracts and it seems that most people just leave them be and the pigs can still see. What did the vet say? Cataracts can be a sign of diabetes if they come on suddenly, though this usually occurs in older pigs.

Re: Cataracts She was tested for cataracts via a urine sample, no glucose was found though 4.6 blood was noted (which the AB's will help with). I also want to know if anyone has any info on E.cuniculi which is something the vet said may have caused them, apparently it is common in rabbits. Panacur treats that so she is on that as well to see how she reacts.
