Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 I used Critterstore for the first time to buy supplies and I'm not so sure if I am happy with it. We ordered 2 bags of Carefresh and only 1 came in. I think it was because nothing else could fit in the box but that isn't really an excuse. Also the things they say that are for guinea pigs really aren't. I got 2 coop cups (for food) that hook onto the grids and the box said it was for birds. I'm sure that it is fine for the pigs and is very easy to clean, but still. What stores do you use? Does anyone else have opinions on critterstore? |

I love Critterstore. In fact, I do a lot of my shopping through them. Have you checked with their customer service? I would bet that because of the size of your order, they are having to ship it in two boxes, and you'll have the rest of your order shortly. As far as the coop cups go, yes the packaging may say that they are made for birds when you get them, but they are safe for guinea pigs. That's why they are also sold for guinea pigs. |

Contact the critterstore about your order. Sometimes mistakes are made and whoever packed your order didn't notice that you ordered 2 packs of carefresh and accidentally shorted you. I've had it happen to me and I've accidentally done it to others in my business. Those bird cups are fine to use. I use them for evacuation purposes in my carriers and cages. The food/water dishes that usually come with those carriers are too shallow and all the food/water spills out. The bird cups can be securely attached to the bars of the cage or door of the carrier and prevent spilling. Members here have used lots of things that weren't meant to be used for GPs. If you get creative you can come up with some great ideas and toys. Such as -windchimes for toys -bowls for hidy houses -fleece hats for snugglies -drainage tubes/pvc pipes for ramps -shower organizers for hay racks -and our all time favorite...storage cubes for cage sides and sign plastic for cage tray bottoms. |

Yeah thanks for the reasurance. We called them and the 2nd bag is coming in a few days. And as you all know 10 litter bags don't go very far in a 2x4 cage for me so once I finish the Carefresh, we're going to get Aspen. Good? How big is 3200 cubic inches. Sounds pretty big to me but I'm not sure how long it will last. |

I liked aspen. I'm using kiln-dried pine in one of my cages now. It is SO much cheaper, and I can get it at Southern States. If you don't have an SS, you can check other farm supply stores. |

I use Aspen also - I get the huge gigantic bag for about $12 and it will do a complete litter change of my 3 level 2x5 C&C. I scoop wet spots every other day and have never had a problem with odor. We do a total litter change/spray with vinegarwater and wash down about every 2-3 weeks. |

Speaking of Critter Store, I got an order in the mail from them today. A carrier that will easily fit all three pigs to go to the vet or whereever and white and pink Carefresh for Wynnie. Sad thing is, I put the carrier together and measured, and it's bigger than some cages I've seen. |

I love The Critter Store, as well as Rabbit Central, another site owned by NEEPs Inc. |

As far as food bowls go, dog, cat, bird, guinea pigs, etc. It is all the same and what works for you is what matters. My chinchilla's bowl is a ceramic domed bird crock. A bit pricey but he can sit on top of it and no poos go in it. so it is a chinchilla food bowl. The girls have a bird bowl for their food also. All of my chin toys are large bird toys. And Buddy has a sherpa man that is a dog toy. The pigs have people stuffed animals and small dog stuffed toys. I made my first order from the Critter Store and am very happy with the service. what I am not happy about is I threw my 10% off next purchase paper!! Klin/heat dried pine from your local feedstore is dirt cheap! Last edited by jdomans; 07-03-06 at 08:18 am. Reason: added info |

I used them to order my food. It was fine but the shipping is way too expensive. They say they only charge you exactly what the shipping co. charges, but they use the LARGEST flat rate box they can find for some reason. I was going to order some "cage diapers" which are basically big pieces of thick paper, they only cost about $1 apiece, and the shipping was going to be something like $12!!! |

i have one of the super pet ones my friend got for me from their neighbor's yardsale, (they have a bunny, but hes too big for it now, so they sold it.) I put it in the washer, and the inside lining tore off. I don't know why they even bother to put it on, it comes off easily, but i like the plastic under it better than the whatever it was that tore off. I like the carrier though. |
