Nightmares
This isn't really fit for the kitchen, but since it has to do with pet stores, I will post it here. Feel free to move it.
After reading about pet store cruelty and looking around on that website about it, I can now say that I have had non-stop nightmares about it. I go into pet stores and see dead guinea pigs and cages, usually babies. Some cages are so small the guinea pigs can't even move in them. There is no ventilation, so the pigs are slowly dying. There are so many feces in the cages that they literally fill it up like bedding to where the pigs are like, swimming in it. There are bugs inside of the cages, and even more. I've also had nightmares about breeding mills, all with the same conditions. Including a room in the back full of dead guinea pigs who were bred to death and their babies that died. I often see sick pigs as well. Very sick pigs with skin diseases, abscesses, fungus, etc.
I am so happy that I came here before getting my pig, and learned how bad pet stores are and about the breeding mills they come from. I know that these are dramatizations, but still. I can not stress enough how happy I am that I adopted Ginger. If I had purchased a pig from the pet store, the guilt would eat me alive.
Sorry, I just really wanted to share my story.

Re: Nightmares
I have had disturbing dreams about piggies and other animals, too. I had one just the other night where the two pigs I rehomed a while ago were returned to me almost dead in a big ziplock bag. Now, the people they actually live with would never do anything like that, ever. In my dream, I had just put them on Craigslist and sent them home with the first caller. This was after seeing some badly neglected animals online, so I think that's what caused it. I have no reason at all to doubt that they're well cared for in real life
I tend to have really dramatic dreams, so I understand completely. It's like those emotions overflow into my dreams because I don't like to acknowledge that kind of cruelty exists when I'm awake.
