Re: look serious case of abuse Yup, try and get as much "evidence" as you can. If you see anything remotely cruel take a picture.

Re: look serious case of abuse I have not called them yet, if i have to go back i might aswell get more pictures and evidence. i will get a picture of the pregnant pigd the pigs in the box and some up close pictures of them so that they can see how dirty and how many injuries they have. I think after that they will be enough evidence to call the rspca.

Re: look serious case of abuse I have to save that the pictures were not as bad as I thought they would be. I was shocked though at the last one: those poor pigs had no room to do any thing! I think that the first ones were okay- but there were to many of the poor things and there didn't seem to room for them all at the water dish and the whole mating thing is just out of control.

| Re: look serious case of abuse "Little girl" or not, you should write a letter of complaint to the authorities that govern the treatment of animals in your town/city (I'm not familiar with UK agencies). And have your mom or a teacher check it for grammar and spelling. You're never too young to become a concerned citizen. Although the first couple of pictures don't look too bad (and they don't - there seems to be some elbow room and it IS clean) - those little blocks with the pregnant pigs looks horrific. | Re: look serious case of abuse Actually, I read the description of this "farm" and it clearly states that they have 300+ piggies. At the time that the picture was taken there were only a little over 50 in the case, as the rest were being petted and such. Can you imagine over 300 piggies in that thing, cause I can't. |

Re: look serious case of abuse I don't think that that holds 300 + pigs... Seriously... there is NO way that 250 people could have surronded that thing and pet all 250 of them... There must be different areas that the rest are in...

Re: look serious case of abuse If you look at the map on the website, it shows that the guinea pigs are all kept in one barn that is also used as an indoor play area. I am assuming that the people go into the play area to see the piggies. They may have 2 or 3 cages like this, but I still think its a little cramped.

Re: look serious case of abuse Sorry guys, but I had to resurrect this thread. I have been there! I went thinking it would be fun and I actually enjoyed myself! But hang on there don't bite my head off yet! This was months before I found this site and I started to question this place and I have come to the conclusion that in fact it was terrible! Here is my recollection of the place: It is housed in large barn. The pens extend approx 4ft - 6ft out from the walls and are surrounded by 2-3ft walls so you can see over. There is one pen which covers the 3 walls at one end of the barn and I concluded that this housed the male pigs. Another pen that covered the two walls at the other end of the barn i concluded held females and young females. There was another pen about half size that I guessed held young boys. To the edge of the large male pen there were about 12 pens holding females and new babies. I have now learnt that these are called breeder boxes. Next to that was a small pen holding pregnant ladies. When I walked in the barn I was confronted by a keeper who was holding babies for people to gently stroke. Every hour for half hour it is handling time, where pigs are handed out for people to hold. Everyones sits on seats down the middle of the barn and on the walls around the large enclosure. The keeper then goes in to the large pen with the males and picks them up and hands them out rather roughly. I was stunned when he handed probably the largest pig out of all to a 3 or 4 year old boy who didnt know how to hold it and moved on to hand out more. During the handling I sat in, a guinea pig did leap from a girls lap on to the concrete floor. He got put back by the girl's mother but I kept an eye on it and it was brought to the keepers attention. The pig seemed ok although a little shocked. I hope he was ok in the end. Thankfully the girl was devastated! Two of the pigs I held had eyes missing... I have concluded that this was an all round bad situation. I took quite a few pictures that day and will post them if requested. I may talk to the RSPCA soon about my experience.

Re: look serious case of abuse I really think the RSPCA should be contacted as soon as possible. The longer you leave it the more pigs will get pregnant the more fights will occur in the herd. I am sure most need dire vetinary care if they have eyes missing. They could get infected and spread to the rest of the herd. I know I cant do anything since I am overseas but this has to end now. The original posts were in june. Thats month from presently. Way too long to sit idly by and wait for someone else to ring. Please call them, its only a phone call its not like your going to arrest them yourselves, even though I bet you would like to. ![]()
