Why not a network? I've heard that the reason bunnies are not sold in Petsmart and Petco is that the House Rabbit Society successfully worked to stop it. With so many rescuers here, I thought this would be a good place to ask why there isn't a similar network of guinea pig rescuers/educators formed into a nationwide organization with state chapters. Strength in numbers. Aren't there enough to form a society?

Re: Why not a network? Bunnies are sold in Petco, at least here they are. Business can't be threatened or coerced into doing things, the best we can do is to educate enough people to make it unprofitable for them to sell animals. As long as people want to buy bunnies on the open market there will be some pet store or business that will sell them.

Re: Why not a network? Apparently in the past Petco did agree with the organized efforts of the HRS, though it now appears that they have reneged on their word. Read http://rabbit.org/opinion/petco.html I have never seen rabbits in Petco stores in my area.
