What would YOU say to the CEO of Petsmart?
My dad will be meeting with the CEO of Petsmart in a few weeks.
My dad said he'd let me compose a polite letter [keyword: polite] about ways in which the CEO could improve Petsmart.
My dad will give this letter to the CEO. I'm using this opportunity as a great one to explain the problems the CEO may not see/understand. I'd like your opinions on what I should say.
So what would YOU want to say to the CEO of Petsmart? Your words might be featured in my letter, so keep it polite, please!

I would say to discontinue selling live animals. There are so many animals in rescues and shelters that need homes, it's terrible to see them being sold in petstores where they encourage pet mills to breed more.
I would also say to network with animals rescues and shelters to ask their opinions on the products they sell. There are high quality products that are not offered at Petsmart and a lot of bad products that they do sell. It would be great if they were as educated about their products as those who do know what which products are the best.

I agree with a lot of what pinky said, but I would tie in all the work that they do with shelters and rescues. Commend them for the work that they do with homeless pets [mostly dogs and cats], and then go into the overpopulation of small pets and how it makes no sense to exacerbate the problem while at the same time helping rescues and shelters where the very pets they sell may end up.. except, I would say it more tactfully and maybe make more sense/be less redundant.

Re: What would YOU say to the CEO of Petsmart?
I would like to tell them to properly educate and train their employees. Train them to sell the BEST products, make sure that each and every animal has clean water and lots of clean food 100% of the time. Don't train the employees to make money, train them to provide the best care and advice possible.
I am not sure about all Petsmarts, but I do not agree with keeping the birds and small animals in open cages where children and customers can harrass them and pick them up, scare them, get biten, drop them etc...
I think it's also contradictory (sp!?!?!) to support and adopt out animals from the shelters but keep selling and supporting the over population.
I'd also think this out a lot more and word it a lot better.
Good luck though, I bet you'll get lots of help, ideas and advice in this thread. People have some very strong opinions.
