| Re: This goes too far... Ok, before I get slammed again for my words, the heading states "if you can't stand the heat, STAY out of the kitchen", but for Access, my words "get out of the kitchen" are better since they are already here making unbelievably ignorant claims. Otherwise they might get confused...aww shucks. Read all my other postings. If you find any uncorrected statements containing word faux pas, go ahead and slam me. Otherwise, I think my original post to you had obvious meaning, and was confusing only to you. Nitpicking is beside the point! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Either way, for the benefit of the rest of the group, I'm going to call my point made. I want to take leave of this discussion before it becomes so distracting as to lose respect for the family in England who had their loved one's remains stolen. I cannot have respect for those who would be willing to dig up graves or leave any form of bomb, whatever that bomb might be made of, in response to a career/hobby, whatever you call it. I may not agree with what they do in raising animals for research (I don't!), but I definitely draw the line when it comes to violence. I think there may or may not be evidence in this case. By the article it sure appears to be sufficient evidence and at least enough of a connection to grant arrest warrants. It is up to the experts to decide from there if the animal rights people are responsible. |

| Re: This goes too far... Well, a search could always she more light on this. This site has various articles about the investigation up to now. Apparently the body has (supposedly) been stolen by the "Animal Rights Militia" & they're still looking for it. They've sent the police letters claiming they know where the body is, but police don't know if they're authentic. (You can also find several sites on the ARM if you google. They appear to be animal rights terrorists.) http://www.burtonmail.co.uk/features...rm/default.asp This is an article about a recent protest there from activists: http://www.direct-action.info/defend.asp?id=76 This is an article about an activist who was arrested for herassing the family: http://www.animalrights.net/archives...04/000427.html This is a site about how the guinea pigs are treated: http://www.liberation-now.org/worldday.html There are pictures & they're pretty nasty. I can understand why this farm is the subject of intense protesting. If they do breed guinea pigs under these standards then they should be closed down. That still doesn't excuse extreme action though. These people do seem to be breeding them for scientific purposes. Cavies4eva, what gave you the impression that they were being bred as pets? |

| Re: This goes too far... I don't agree with their practice of selling the animals for useless experiments. Pretty awful; if the conditions can be verified I don't think many could call it humane or acceptable. I still don't want to see the animal rights group(s) vindicated for enacting violence against the family responsible for the cavy farm, though. I was raised to believe strongly that two wrongs do not make a right. What does such violence prove except to strengthen the resolve of those who would continue in the bad treatment of the animals they raise? |

I think we can all agree that this type of violence, where it exists, is wrong. I mean, you can't really find a 'right' use of violence, just about always there's a better way (education, peaceful protest, etc.) |
