From Caring to Breeding. Rescues are unhealthy

Small Pet Central :: View topic - caring
Does anyone else post here? I just found it and registered a few days ago. I'm disgusted that this person wants to breed because "rescues are unhealthy and have problems" and rescuing or fostering a pregnant sow "puts added stress on the sow and can kill her and the babies or be unhealthy for the sow"

This poster lives in IN which has many cavies in rescues and shelters. It's sad.

I couldn't believe how selfish and ignorant this poster is. My username is KatieinOhio.

Re: From Caring to Breeding. Rescues are unhealthy

Breeding in and of itself is stupid. Too many piggies sitting in shelters and rescues.

I read the posts from the link you gave Katie and I can say WAY TO GO! I am afraid I am not going to join because I would get kicked off in a matter of minutes. I have no patience for those kinds of crappy forums.

Who needs luck when posts like this are in one's arsenal?

Re: From Caring to Breeding. Rescues are unhealthy

Very nice arsenal you have there Chad! I guess right now for me, I am very worked up about a post I saw on gl this morning. It may be a troll, it may not be but the person is intentionally breeding his/her pig and then went and and got another sow and probably intends on breeding that one too. It's just irritates me beyond belief why people want to breed more pigs when there are too many sitting in shelters/rescues needing homes. It hurts to think that 100,000 were euthanized last year alone because they had no home to go to.

I already did, DaCourt. Except I don't sling it. I usually use a catapult or a grenade launcher of some sort.

Re: From Caring to Breeding. Rescues are unhealthy

Nicely put. I think it's really stupid when people say things like "My cat is the best cat ever" like all the kittens will turn out like her, "she would make a great mommy," "she deserves to be a mommy." Or with other species.

It's natural? What about a few years later when they end up being put to sleep at a shelter or abandoned/ neglected?

Re: From Caring to Breeding. Rescues are unhealthy

No, I don't post on that board, but I did take a look at the post you refer to....utter and total rubbish isn't it? They just make all the pathetic claims that rescue guineas have problems, are unhealthy etc to justify their selfish and greedy breeding plans.

Yes, I have taken rescue guineas in that have had health and temperament problems, though many do not...but I have worked hard...like all reputable guinea rescue people to resolve them. No pig is put up for adoption until it healthy, happy and definately non pregnant. Special needs animals are sometimes placed in very special homes with people I know and trust, but if that does not happen, they stay with me.

Re: From Caring to Breeding. Rescues are unhealthy

I just tried to register there at guinealynx but I didn't understand what the whole "the email address your internet provider gave you" thing. I don't even know who my internet provider is...it's just DSL nor did I know that I had an email address. There has to be something I'm missing. Any advice?

I'm not sure if this is what you mean, but I know I when I registered, I could not use my free yahoo or hotmail email adresses. I registered with my work email.

Yes, Ly, I found it. I should have come back and told you.

This means Guinea Lynx does not accept registrations from any free e-mail addresses like Hotmail or Yahoo. You must use an e-mail address provided by your DSL ISP.

It's a great forum, and they can afford to be choosy.

Hey Angel, I'm not going or trying to be rude, but I'd appreciate it if you didn't say his name so casually. Thanks.

I thought that one girl on the Small Pet Central website was just.... what, moronic? She made me laugh a few times, saying you guys didn't know many things. And then the moderators and administrator coming on that particular thread... Hehe... Good job guys! XD
