Re: From Caring to Breeding. Rescues are unhealthy

It really pissed me off because she said, over and over again, "I don't breed rescues" and said that she was a rescue. You canNOT be a rescue if you add to the problem of pet population. It just makes me want to vomit.

Re: From Caring to Breeding. Rescues are unhealthy

I have to tell you, my pig Suzi totally feels so fulfilled that she got pregnant when she was 4 weeks old and had a clingy son and a horny son. Every time Jackie hits on her she feels soooo fulfilled that she had him. You can just tell she feels more fulfilled than Cuddles by the way she, uh, um, sleeps in a different spot. And weighs less. Totally fulfilled.

I agree with you.
As I said on another post, there seems to be a growing trend of breeders starting up a little side line as rescues...with sometimes a rather grey area inbetween. The genuine guinea/general rescues are wising up to them and try to guide people away from them if at all possible.
It's a small world when it comes to animal rescue, especially on a local level.

Haha Salana, . I find it extremely ironic that some people who rescue breed. You save lives only to condemn more? That's like pouring concrete and then hammering it up all at the same time. Ridiculous.

Re: From Caring to Breeding. Rescues are unhealthy

Yeah, I love that "fulfillment" argument, too. It's putting human feelings onto an animal.

My non-breeding sows seem to be just fine - including the spayed ones. They run, play and wheek for veggies just like our boars.

I'm also having another sow spayed soon for ovarian cysts.

Whats with the word fulfilled? It seems you like that word. If I didn't know this was a guinea pig forum I would swear you were talking about your friend Suzi.

Re: From Caring to Breeding. Rescues are unhealthy

I got banned from the forum that originated this thread. It seems the administrators of that forum want everyone to be happy and peaceful all the time, so they can't handle any disagreement or strong emotion. And they issued the statement that Small Pet Central is happy to support and give advice to anyone who breeds responsibly. I think they just don't get it, which is very, very sad.

What's with the two usernames? If I didn't know that nobody would be pathetic enough to do so, I would swear you were semi-literately trolling a guinea pig forum.

It's callled censorship. Certain other gp boards have it too.

Yes, I too would like to know what is up with the two usernames.

Edit: I should ask what's up with the 3 usernames I just found for the same ip address instead.

I missed the boat for that debate thread. I sent a polite, but scathing PM to one of the admins.

Re: From Caring to Breeding. Rescues are unhealthy

These people amaze me. They make me angry and sad. They boggle my mind.

I really think people should be required to obtain liscences to have an animal. The requirements being that they have enough money or means to care for, house and feed and that the animal is nuetered or an agreement made that there will be no breeding.

Gah... ~__~ Its like talking to someone mentally retarted.

Yes
No

Nu-uh
yeah-huh
Nu-uh
Yeah-huh
Well your a stupid head!

I feel so sorry for the poor piggies who have to suffer or stay alone longer before they are neatly whiped out and tossed away, while more of them pour in and stand in line for thier turn to die.
Its like the breeders dont care about whats happening outside thier little circle. As long as they have healthy pigs that wont cause them heartache by becomeing sick or having to hear about those who are suffering, they just dont care.

When I adopted Dahli and the Late Gunther, my only wish was to make them the happiest little things i could. I wanted them to have things they didnt have before. Sure, they were "special" piggies, with that same sadly doomed meaning "special" comes with, but they were the sweetest little personalitys ive ever encountered. When Gunther died of Pyometra I was devistated. Hed been unhealthy from before but that didnt make me want to rid myself of my other "special" Piggy and get breeders pigs and breed my own family.
Thats putting you and your artificial toy on a pedistal above anything with imperfections. Thats Forsakeing Beautiful creatures with beautiful hearts because you want flawless experience. Were SUPPOSED to stumble in life. Not produce produce produce so that what was lost is covered up with what were killing again.

She says she loves animals? No. She loves Haveing something that will be uniform and secluded. So that she wont have to think about problems and the inevitable or anyone else.

My little Dahli is sick. Shes been since before i brought her home. And Ill do anything i can to make sure she gets better, wether it be meds or surgery or anything else. I wont be sorry, have her put down and then breed my own or buy breeders stock. Im going to love her as much as i can so that shes as Happy as i can make her be. So that i can wake up every morning to that saggy eyed little sweet-heart yelling at me and trotting around like her boisterous self.

Make those pigs who can be helped now as happy as you can. Dont cover up past mistakes with wave after wave of replacement and turn a blind eye to those in need.
