Lately my young-adult cat Atawhai has been licking my piggy Gaia on the face as affection. We've recently seen Gaia mounting Atawhai's leg.. Help? |

I don't know if that's Gaia in your Avatar or not, but if it is, she's BEAUTIFUL!!!! No wonder Atawhai is in love with her! |

Regretably piggys should always be kept seperately from other animals. Guinea Pigs are prey animals, while cats (although your sweet kitty seems to love your piggy) are preditors and can turn in an instant back to its preditor roots. I personally wouldn't risk it |

My cat is scared of my pig but sometimes when Bubastis is sleeping Capuccino snuggles next to her and they both sleep together! |

I agree with SnowFlower--don't let them be together. You cannot trust the cat (no matter how well it has behaved in the past), and even if you could, it will still be very stressful to the guinea pig. |

If you are thinking that I leave Gaia with Atawhai then you are obviously wrong. Not to sound bad or anything. And don't worry I'm always sitting their with Gaia, Henry, Smokey, Ouranos and Pancake when they are playing on the matress. O' and by-the-way: Gaia - Girl - Ouranos' twin - 1.5yo Ouranos - Boy - Gaia's twin - 1.5yo - "Ron" Henry - Boy - Smokey's bffl - 7yo Smokey - Girl - Henry's bffl - 4yo - "Momo" Pancake - Boy - Ouranos' piggy-stalker And no worry my friends, I don't breed these piggies. My girl's have been desexed, spayed. |

Hi do you have any Greek routes? Cause Gaia( which is the homeric of my nam Aea) and Ouranos are Greek (I'm sure you know that!) |

You are missing the point--it only takes a second for a cat to injure a guinea pig. You will not have time to stop the cat from doing damage. And even if you could guarantee 100% that the cat would not hurt the pigs (which you can't), this is still a really stressful situation for the pigs. It is not fair to them. |

No they are in seperate cages. And no I'm not that stupid to let my cat stay with my piggies. Um and do you have a mind for them, Akstrohm? No. They pretty much enjoy being with Xenon and Atawhai, Atawhai expecially. |

Good question. Silkiepoo, you shouldn't allow your cat and guinea pigs play time together - whether they seem to like each other or not. The potential for harm is too great and therefore doing so is ill advised. Since you're seemingly unwilling to take advice, I'm uncertain why you started this thread to begin with. And now it's closed. |
