G-force will have a horrible impact on Guinea Pig's lives. Getting neglected and dumped off at shelters and put up on Craigslist. But does that mean we cannot see it? I don't think so. I mean, its a funny movie but for kids who already have Guinea Pigs and read this site and all this can still see it with knowing stuff that they put in the movie is wrong. Its a cute movie and all and if people on here printed something out about Guinea Pigs to hand out at the end of the movie would help alot. So what's the best thing you can do to stop this? Write Petsmart or Petco and say stop putting Guinea Pigs $10 off? I doubt that would work because that's how they would make their money. |

We shouldn't see it because your encouraging young kids to abuse animals by using the exercise balls and keeping them with a hamster, etc... Plus, money goes to Disney which will use that money to make more movies and exploit more animals. And I doubt a six or seven year old will be searching the internet on how to properly take care of their Guinea Pigs and have the parents don't even care. |

No. I mean kids/parents who have kids who have searched sites. Some parents do know to research. I was just kind of saying how I felt. |

I saw it though....It was something me and my Dad did on our dad daughter date I will buy it though. Before I discovered this site, I almost bought a Hamster ball for my Guinea Pig so I knew that the hamster balls in this movie were just as bad. |

There are many people with varying opinions and degrees of fanaticism on the matter and that's fine. I personally tend to hold people accountable for their own actions and don't believe it's the job of Big Brother to do that for us. For myself, the movie itself is nothing more than a silly flick meant as entertainment. There's nothing wrong with that. There are many, many movies out there that don't depict real life or that feature animals as the main characters. They're meant to be lighthearted and cute. The problem is with the parents who take their child to see the movie and then give in to their child's every whim without doing any research on the matter. If I take my 9 year old to see the movie (which I'm still undecided on) then I am in no way supporting anything other than a silly movie as I will not be giving in to my son's whims and desires because I'm a mother that knows how to say no. Sadly, many parents don't know how to say no and this is how we run into these problems. If a kid sees this movie and asks his mother for a guinea pig (like my son did when our hamster died) and the mother says, "I don't know, Jimmy. Let me look into it and I'll think about it" and then goes home to do some research (like I did when he asked) and finds out that guinea pigs will fit into their lifestyle and they learn how to properly care for it, then I don't have a problem with that at all. I DO have a problem with the mother who drives down to Petco the next day and buys into whatever the store employees tell them, become overwhelmed, and dump their new little friend a month or two later. Both scenarios could be a direct result of the movie, but the end result always comes down to common sense which seems to be lacking far too much these days. |

I completely agree with you Fieryone. Everyone has their own opinion to their movie. I got a Guinea Pig because I was looking for a new pet so I researched the different options. I found Guinea Pig pictures and fell in love with it. I was recklessly caring for it the first 2 years(oops). But as I was saying, my parents even told me I needed to do research before getting a pet. I think that parents need to learn how to say research to their kids. |

I agree with you. But most parents don't care and think it's like a fish even though they don't realize how much care a fish requires. This isn't all parents, but some will just listen to what the pet store says or what the movie says. The pigs were in hamster balls, let's get our piggy a hamster ball! The pet store won't care because 98% of the time, they're just looking to make money so they'll try to sell as much as the person is willing to buy. |

So is the movie actually any good as a means of entertainment? The trailer for it looked crap, and I thought maybe the movie might be a big flop, in which case it would never get released in New Zealand where I live, and then i won't have to worry about all these guinea pigs going to bad homes... |

The reviews were really bad but the movie did make money, perhaps due to all the promotion as a kids movie. |

You've got a point, Rabbits. Some of the reviews were bad. I thought it was cute for the Guinea Pigs. I know I supported the movie but I only saw it because of the Guinea Pigs. That's when I wanted my third and that's when me and my Dad decided to really start acting on this C&C cage. |

It took you a bad movie to get you to do what we have been telling you for months? |

I saw the movie and loved it. I hope parents will think about it before getting their children a guinea pig. but it's not like their gonna expect the pig to be a secret agent or anything. I'm sure the parents will explane it to them. and as I was walking out of the theater I heard more children saying they wanted a pet mole than a guinea pig. so I think at least in Ontario were safe. |

It's a movie!! Seriously, if we're going to go and saying that this one movie is bad for the guinea pig population, then how about we break it down to this: Aristocat's would've been bad for the cat population, because I mean kids would want a talking cat that danced and sang. Ratatouille, kids would want a pet rat that can cook and talk to them. Kids that watched Jungle Book would think that bears walk on their hind legs and sing "The Bear Necessities". The Little Mermaid must've been devastating for the fish population. Come on! I think people realize and understand it's a kid's movie. There will always be people who are misinformed and who will think that hamster wheels are ok for guinea pigs, but I don't think it's because of a movie. I think it's because they can go into a pet store and the wheel is practically packaged for guinea pigs by saying "For small animals". I agree that maybe they should've researched a bit more, but they're just going with popular culture and what can make money. I think most people don't use Disney as their source of information. I have yet to find someone who believes mice can talk..and cats can dance, so obviously people aren't taking Disney too seriously. |
