Ratatouille, kids would want a pet rat that can cook and talk to them.
Kids that watched Jungle Book would think that bears walk on their hind legs and sing "The Bear Necessities".

The Little Mermaid must've been devastating for the fish population.

Come on! I think people realize and understand it's a kid's movie. There will always be people who are misinformed and who will think that hamster wheels are ok for guinea pigs, but I don't think it's because of a movie. I think it's because they can go into a pet store and the wheel is practically packaged for guinea pigs by saying "For small animals".

I agree that maybe they should've researched a bit more, but they're just going with popular culture and what can make money. I think most people don't use Disney as their source of information. I have yet to find someone who believes mice can talk..and cats can dance, so obviously people aren't taking Disney too seriously.
All these movies with animals have had an impact on the homeless animal population. Do you remember 101 Dalmations?

Re: G-force

Yea I was never really fond of that movie. I was more of a Disney Princess..Little Mermaid, Pocahontas, Aladdin..I didn't really watch many movies. But I mean maybe I was different? I remember Bambi, and Rescuers Down Under. I never wanted to have a pet deer or mice.

So you think that movies are the sole reason for the increase in homeless animals? It's not the fault of parents for giving into the "I want I want" when the parent should know that the kid isn't going to take care of it? I know when I was younger I was unable to keep up with my room, and school work let alone take care of an animal.

People aren't going to stop wanting pets, and I don't see how a movie can change that. I mean I want Prince Charming, but my ideals of "Prince Charming" aren't real. The movies aren't real, animals are not the way they are portrayed in the movies. Yes animals are wonderful, they're great, but they're not toys.

Until people stop thinking of animals as toys there isn't going to be a change in homeless animals, irregardless of the movies.

All I'm saying is parents should tell their kids that animals are not the way they are portrayed in movies and explain the differences. It's a parents responsibility to teach a child between fact and fiction and what's in movies are fiction and they shouldn't want a guinea pig or any animal because of a movie.
