Did you do anything about it? Mention it to anyone? Ask anyone to remove the chickens? Anything? |

Don't ever let anyone tell you that you can't do something because your a "kid." I would try calling your local humane society and see if they can give you any advice on who to report these people too. You can make a difference. |

I told them I was going to write an e-mail and they laughed at me. I am going to wait untill my friend gets back from vacation and I think we are going to work on writing a letter (I've already started it) The place is owned by a major company so I don't think an e-mail will work but it's a start. |

Doing something is better than nothing. I would still try to contact your humane society by phone and see if they can help you out as well. |

Age notwithstanding, you can certainly call the owners/ company/ whatever and perhaps raise a bit of a fuss over the situation. To me it sounds like the pigs need more immediate action than waiting for your friend to return so you can write a letter that may or may not ever reach the intended recipients. In any case, I fail to see the point of posting about the situation here if you yourself are unwilling or unable to do anything about it. All it accomplishes is upsetting members here that are more or less powerless to do anything about the situation at hand. |

Being told your just a kid is nothing more than an excuse! It's how you approach the situation, it takes maturity and knowledge to have someone listen to you and take you seriously. You can go back to the store and ask to speak to the store's manager. When you speak to the manage, bring him to the guinea pigs pen explain how you view the pigs environment and your concerns about it. You can offer suggestions, such as how to house them properly until someone comes in to adopt them. Most of the times, I find, it's lack of knowledge, pure laziness or both on the store's part. A little education goes a long way to a willing listener. |

You know you need to contact the authorities whenever you see animal neglect or abuse, no matter what your age is (provided it is your moral conviction to do so). There are several threads with this TYPE of situation (abuse/neglect/improper housing/dirty--some of this is very disturbing), not exactly the same... But I used the search function for you: http://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/...ed-advice.html http://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/...ral-issue.html http://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/...oh-my-god.html |

We have given you ideas that will more than likely be more effective, but you refuse to even try them out. You have internet access so you should be able to find a number for someone that you could call and report this to. |

If no one is working there, take the pigs and run!! (Don't actually do this, you might get in trouble. But that's what I would do.) |

Just look up the number and call the local humane society! Its as simple as that. I wish you the best of luck in dealing with them and I hope the situation is resolved soon! It doesn't matter who saw the problem a child or an adult, it just needs to be reported and the authorities will take it from there. If you act mature and intelligent on the phone (which I am sure you are) they will take you seriously kid or not! |

Okay, I will talk with my mom about doing that. |

Your parents don't seem to take you seriously cause you're 'just a kid'! Maybe you could pick up the phone and call them yourself. By the time a letter reaches somebody..if it ever reaches anybody that can do anything...it could be too late. |
