Read the post, i didnt origionally bring up bacteria, someone else did trying to prove a point.

Please forgive me for the fact that my phraseology did not adequately express my sincerity. Medical topics interest me. I was unaware that diseases exist that are communicable between human beings and guinea pigs - I was truly interested to find out what it is that guinea pigs can contract from humans. For example, I did not know that ferrets can catch influenza from humans ... and I appreciate Dandelion sharing that information with me. I believe *you* were the one who said that people can also spread disease to guinea pigs, so I was asking for that information from you ... or anyone else who may have known. My intent was not to "speak down" to anyone.

Ok well what i meant was im sure we have germs that would have an adverse affect on any animals, guineapiggies included.
There ammune system would no doubt be different to ours but that dosent mean we dont keep them as pets.
I wasnt referring to anything inperticular because i really dont know, im not a vet.

Well if you aren't a vet you should not have posted a posslibly non-valid statement, and then have the nerve to jump all over someone (like you felt others were doing to you) over a simple question. I take offence the the statement "arrogant yankees" because lady your the arrogant one. "Talking" like you know everything, and also that Americans are stupid! I guess it didn't occurr to you that no one oridganily came from American and that some of your fellow "mates or blokes" are now arrogant yankees.

A. No, bacteria from humans cannot be passed from human to guinea pigs, ut viruses can. B. "Arrogant Yankee"? Really now, that was a bit immature. Nae-calling is not needed, as Ly has said, and Susan was not being a smartass, she was asking an intelligent question hoping to be answered with an intelligent answer. That couldn't be managed though, could it? C. You commented on your wonderful grammar, here's a few tips: use some punctuation, i.e. exclamation marks, periods, question marks, apostrophes, etc. etc. Sure, you can spell a few simple words, but can you be gramatically correct? And D. after all of the information we have given you, you chose over and over again to put your guinea pigs in danger and told us about it. That is an ignorant choice(notice I'm not saying that you are ignorant, simply your choices. Please don't damage my ego by calling me an arrogant yankee). You are purposefully putting the animals that you, no one else, are responsible for in danger. And please, don't come complaining to us when you put your pigs and rabbits down for play time, something frightens the rabbit, and you end up with one guinea pig seriously brain damaged and the other dead with it's skull crushed in. Good day to you.

It's nice to know that you think this topic is so hilarious, Guineagurl. And also, notice that punctuation wasn't the only thing I mentioned, I said "Gramatically correct", that includes capitalization. This isn't a chat board or instand messaging. Not to mention that adding punctuation to the posts after I commented on it and adding a few extra exclamation points isn't what I would call impressive. Ah yes, and way to try and avoid all of my other points, I applaud your fruitless effort.

I moved my bunnies out as i allready said a few posts back...I do use punctuation.
I didnt avoid your points as i had allready said they had been put into
the other house.
You seriously have nothing better to do than have a go at me for not
using punctuation then have ANOTHER go at me when i do.
(And i allways use it in some form)

I never said this was a chatroom or instant messages blahblah.
If u knew me you'd know that i also hate reading things like
gr8 Xlent etc all the time.....are these dots ok? .... Is it permitted???
Let me know now as i like them or dashes.

Good grief. Someone posts what she considers to be an amusing incident, and it turns into a (so far) three page massacre.

Firstly, they're her animals, I think that within reason, she can keep them wherever and however she likes. From what she describes, they're well looked after and loved. I've seen and heard of way worse. You don't like the way she's keeping them? Fine, attend to your own animals differently. But what right do you have to call her lazy and stupid? Advice is one thing, outright badgering and criticism is another. Threatening to ban her? Ridiculous, particularly from someone who isn't even a moderator.

Secondly, I don't remember seeing a sign on the internet that says, only perfectly literate people are allowed to have conversations on forums. Sure, it's a lot easier if correct english is used, and I know it is stated in this forum's rules that it is perferred. I'm guilty of occasionally being a "grammar Nazi" myself, but her meaning is still understandable, and if that's the only thing you can quibble about, get over it. Not everyone is as literate or well educated as you (not that I'm making any comments about Guineagurl's education).

Now, is my post a "better" post than Guineagurl's because it's grammatically correct and punctuated? Of course not. I'm an editor by profession, so correct grammar comes naturally to me. If you don't like what she's said, sure, express your opinion, but I would have thought politeness was a greater virtue that being gramatically correct. Lead by example.

First of all, may I say that the only person that said anything relative to threatening banning was Ly, who is, in fact, a moderator. Also, the name-calling is a double sided story, every one called each other a name somehow. And I agree, that was a bit silly after hearing 'smartass', 'arrogant yankees', and 'lazy' from many people. Names get us no where. Third, she commented on how she had wonderful grammar, and I corrected that. I made no insult to her education, I myself am a freshman in highschool. But, technically, using 'u' and 'ppl' is chat speak, and I hate it when people shorten words like that. It's just a pet peeve of mine, please don't take my grammar nazi persona seriously. And lastly, considering this is a guinea pig forum run by a guinea pig rescue and guinea pig fanciers who only want the best for all guinea pigs(not just ours) alot of people do not think, "They're her pets, she can do what she wants." I know that I do not think like that, and if I see something that I think is wrong, then I will try my best to fight that. I agree, I was a bit harsh in my last posts and I humbly apologize, but I really only have the pig's best interests at heart. But I must also add, guineagurl, you were also very rude when you argued your opinion. This whole post has been rude, but quite frankly, that's the way the cookie crumbles.
