[quote=pigsforlife;427182]Most vets around here have a policy whereby they tattoo a small area (smaller than an australian 5c piece) inside their ear to show that they have been spayed/nuetered. They do this when the animal is under anesthetic for the spay or nueter. This I find acceptable. Both my dogs had it, and as they were asleep for their spay/nueter they felt absolutely no pain. It is a great tool that helps when animals are rehomed etc and even when a vet is simply treating an animal - they can tell by looking at their ear if they have been spayed (particularly helpful in females where it is often hard to tell).
Surly instead of this the microchipping service is all that is needed? We have our dog micorchipped with all the details ever that are needed.
