Re: Why not to breed my guinea pigs ?

In the beginning of the thread you are asking where you can get GP's, even to the point of having them shipped to Greece. Later you admit you are breeding and that you have 11 GP's. Are these 11 GP's all related to one another thru breeding? Isn't that unhealthy? Why are you asking where to find more GP's? I am confused with your post, there are to many condratictions.

Oh is it ever unhealthy! The more "incest" a family is, the more mutation come from the babies. It gets worse as it goes down the line wit heach generation. I learned that in biology back in high school. It's not pretty, and I hope no one is doing that to their pigs or any other animal they have. Not to mention that breeding them in general is bad for them both healthy wise and population wise, but I won't get into that.

Re: Why not to breed my guinea pigs ?

Warning for Eliana-
I rarely issue warnings in public anymore but you've earned this one. You need to tone down your attitude and stop insulting the members of this forum. If you keep it up, you will find yourself banned.

This forum is RESCUE oriented. Meaning the majority of the members here don't like breeding. For you to come here and make this thread when you have already been breeding is like throwing it in our faces. I don't think this forum is for you and you may want to find a new one, because at the rate you are going, you aren't going to last here.

You also say "if it wasn't for breeding there would be no guinea pigs". That's an old argument that has been proven wrong time and time again.

You say that "You cant know if i provide proper care , and i do !". I'd like to know the size of your cages and what you feed your guinea pigs. Name the brand of the pellets and tell us everything you feed them.

And lastly, you've been told more than once to post properly. That means capitalizing your I's too.

I disagree with you on this statement. Maybe it is the way I read it, but it sounds to me like you are saying, that no vet is better than an unknowlegeable one. I can understand where you are coming from, saying that if something goes wrong with the babies, but I think any type of somewhat professional opinion is better, than guessing.
I am not sure if any one on here understands what I am trying to say here, but...

Re: Why not to breed my guinea pigs ?

To put it simple, if you are trying to breed guinea pigs to make money, here is not the place to do so, and/or talk about doing so.

There might not be an overpopulation of guinea pigs in Greece, but there sure are here. In America, thousands of animals are euthanized every day. A lot of these animals come from owners who don't want to care for them anymore. Properly, anyway.
Don't breed you guinea pigs. You'll be the one on the bad side.

Re: Why not to breed my guinea pigs ?

auburnmare5, that is not at all what I meant. I was trying to say that we on this site are responsible pet guardians and are willing to pay whatever cost to properly care for our animals, while Eliana lives somewhere that doesn't offer this care, yet she is putting her pigs in a harmful situation by breeding them. It's bad enough she is breeding, but she also has no readily available medical options. It's a double whammy!

Also, I find it funny that she "thanked" my post when I was clearly questioning her ability to take care for her pigs. Perhaps I was not very clear in my post.

You know, it really doesn't matter. Sure, you might find it strange, but of all the things Eliana might need to explain here, why she thanked which posts isn't one of them.

To the best of my ability, no it isn't. Let's please not start this thread going in the direction of talking troll.

That wasn't my intent. I was just asking, that's all, because it certainly seems like a blatant attempt. Sorry.

Re: Why not to breed my guinea pigs ?

Pulse, my comment about troll talk wasn't aimed at you directly. Having been a mod here for so long I can tell you from experience that if one person mentions the word troll, everyone seems to want to jump on that bandwagon so that's my intent for what I said in the latter part of my previous post.

Re: Why not to breed my guinea pigs ?

It seems to me that her thanking everyone was an attempt of showing sarcasim.

Re: Why not to breed my guinea pigs ?

I believe she is trying to be polite to everyone and may also have small misunderstandings between the language. I'm not by any way giving her an excuse. I am just saying that although she is aware that we are against it I don't think she understands all of the words that we use. It may also be her attempt at making friends. Of course it really doesn't matter why we're questioning her reason for thanking people- We already answered her question... now it is up to her if she listens or not.

Re: Why not to breed my guinea pigs ?

I was just replying to Coloradomama's remark that she was thanked by Eliana, my computor was giving me lip and not allowing me to quote her statement. Personally, I took her thanking everyone as sarcasim, but that's me. Either way, it doesn't really matter, I think at this point, or at least I hope, she got the picture.

Re: Why not to breed my guinea pigs ?

I'm not sure...either way, coming from a foreign country, learning English is definitely not an easy thing to do, and you do get confused, quite often. She could be sarcastic or she really could think it was necessary-but she still should have enough common sense not to breed the innocent pigs.

I live in Greece and if you ask at a pet store if they know of any shelters in the area they say know but someone is giving away a puppy if you want one.
