I think you honestly might want to analyze your involvement in these types of discussions, as I've said before. Stirring up internet battles isn't helping anyone, not even you.

You are absolutely unbelievable. Paula never "bashed" anything, and in fact was very specific as to what the concern was. This is yet another example of you turning an otherwise perfectly reasonable, helpful, and constructive thread into an excuse to argue with and generally annoy people. Fast forward to you playing the role of the victim and accusing mods of picking on you by the end of the thread, shortly before it has to be closed down just to get you to finally move along.

Seriously, it makes me sad to see you ruin so many threads.

Re: Okay this is seriously the worst thing I think I've ever seen

How could paula hav bashed them? DId you see the emails she sent? How do you know they were horrible and nasty? Could she have been exagerating...?

ADorable, I do think you need to get a different hobby then stalking members and looking for flaws and starting figts. Either that or you need to change your username.

P.S. Sorry for the spelling mistakes. I don't have my contacts in and it's late.

One more thing, Adorable: If you're here for a reason other than to nitpick everything I say, then what do you propose be done for this rabbit and guinea pig? Do you have a better solution than sending the shelter as many emails as possible with reasons what they're doing is a problem, and asking that the animals be separated for their own health and safety?

If so, please share it. It's seems you'd be a fountain of ideas, since you're only posting here because you care so much about guinea pigs and rabbits.

Mercifully, the Petfinder listings have been removed and I received a message from them stating that they'd find other options for these two.

Thank you to all who opted to reply to the shelter and let them know it was a problem.

Shall I make silly comments about road maps or can you go back and read what I suggested earlier in this thread? It's essentially the same thing, just more private and diplomatic.

Really, Adorable, your nonsense is getting on my nerves. I'm tired of you always twisting everything anyone says, simply because we aren't doing things your way. You seem to be a lot more focused on arguing rather than actually helping the animals in question. *sighs*

Adorable, I find it infinitely flattering that you can't seem to keep yourself away from my threads. However, the argumentative nature of your posts many times renders them useless and only serves as a distraction from the original issue. Please, for the benefit of readers skimming through these threads and so as not to discourage people who might actually wish to contribute something of value, reconsider whether or not you really *have* to post your nonsensical ramblings just so you can attempt at finding fault with me. Please.

Re: Okay this is seriously the worst thing I think I've ever seen

Which ones are your threads? I clicked on this one because I was curious about the worst thing someone (anyone) had seen and I was uncomfortable with the tone. It’s not the first time I’ve said that here.

You asked me a direct question and I answered. How is that arguing? Unless, you really didn’t care to hear an answer and then I’d have wonder what your point was in asking, other than to give you another opportunity to say how I care sooooo much more about arguing than rabbits and guinea pigs.

Hopefully one of the Mods will come along soon to close this thread, too, so no one will be tempted to address me directly and I won’t be tempted to respond.

Perhaps you don't realize this, but you are tragically transparent and pitifully predictable.

The question was what your solution was to get the rabbit and the guinea pig split, the rabbit and the guinea pig that were being housed together and adopted out together by a humane society. Your answer? "Shall I make silly comments about road maps or can you go back and read what I suggested earlier in this thread? It's essentially the same thing, just more private and diplomatic."

Whoa. Profound. Not to mention, your "suggestion" from earlier was what was ALREADY BEING DONE.

Given your track record with getting threads shut down, I think it's likely.

The issue I started this thread over has been resolved, so please, for Heaven's sake, find someone else to e-stalk for a while and let this one go.

I have to agree that sending nasty emails to the shelters isn't the way to go, not that Paula actually suggested sending a nasty email or wrote them a nasty email. But there will be members who will think it's ok to do that, when it really isn't. That's only going to make them angry and unresponsive. Now on the other hand if a nice email was written and sent with links to places like here, gl or the House Rabbit Society detailing why rabbits and pigs shouldn't be kept together I feel they would be more willing to listen and correct what they are doing.

Now ENOUGH picking on Adorable and get this thread back on track. I'm tired of seeing this over and over on every thread in the Kitchen.

Something worked, because as I said, they replied that they are going to figure out a way to adopt the bunny and pig out to a single home (together) without actually housing them in the same cage, and the listings have been removed, at least temporarily. Thank you again to everybody who sent emails and helped me in this endeavor.

Re: Okay this is seriously the worst thing I think I've ever seen

HRS actually recommends housing them together for the most part, despite possible cross contamination, so the rabbit.org link doesn't help all the time.

Isn't that a little...odd? They know the risks and they still suggest it? Has anyone tried to contact them? You's think they's know that since they are a highly respected organization....

It is odd, and unfortunate that there's conflicting information on the topic. Which is why it was a good thing to get several folks telling the shelter otherwise. I think anyway.

There are less risks to the rabbit than the guinea pigs, unless the pigs are carrying bordatella.

Re: Okay this is seriously the worst thing I think I've ever seen

My local humane society, which I've grown to greatly respect, recently had a bonded pair (guinea pig/rabbit). I spoke with the workers there, all of whom I'm close to, and they said that the cavy/bunny pair came in together, and when they tried to separate them both stopped eating and started wasting away. Sometimes these things are just unavoidable.

That's true that some bonded pairs may not be able to be separated, but when a website doesn't discourage pairing guinea pigs and rabbits, the real problem could occur when people think that any guinea pig and rabbit can be housed together. By not clarifying, this website is sharing harmful information that could be misused, potentially creating more pairs out of ignorance. If there's a pair like the one your local humane society told you about, then it should definitely be treated like a special and rare set of circumstations...not accepted as the norm.

It sounds like the website has since been updated, thanks to Paula and other fellow members who politely shared their guinea pig/rabbit wisdom. Well done!

Re: Okay this is seriously the worst thing I think I've ever seen

I have received a response from the shelter:
"was asked to respond to your recent email to Greenhill Humane Society.Thank you for your thoughtful comments regarding your concerns about the rabbit and guinea pig pair. After a lot of review, evaluation and discussion we have separated the pair and will be adopting them separately.

Barbara Ray
Rabbit Volunteer "

Good news!
