Good Pet Supply Stores I am hoping I am not repeating another thread and that this thread belongs here, but I need a bit of help. Someone on YouTube asked me what the "good pet stores" are. Does anyone know of a list anywhere on the Internet of good pet supply stores? I will also tell them that shopping on the Internet is super-easy, too, but I want to give them a list of physical stores that are animal-friendly. Thanks. Also, I am sorry for not being too active. I've just gotten so distracted away from this site by the other sites I spend time on. I will try to post more.

Re: Good Pet Supply Stores Mounds Petfood Warehouse in southern WI (Madison area) is good. They do not sell animals and do promote Humane Society adoptions. They care many quality brands of food such as Oxbow for pigs.

Re: Good Pet Supply Stores Tractor Supply Co. is good if you use kiln dried pine, they sell it in big bags for horse bedding and I think they carry woody pet or something like it too. I buy my dog food there since my husband works there we get a discount and they recently started carrying taste of the wild kibble. I order my guinea pig food and hay online though its cheaper and its the only way I can get quality.

Re: Good Pet Supply Stores A vast majority of the petstores in my area that used to be "good" as in not selling animals, now do, UNFORTUNATELY!!! They have I believe rats, mice, gps, chins, etc... They all look so pitiful and sad.

Re: Good Pet Supply Stores I gave them the link to the Cavyspirit pet store page, and they found a pet store very close to them.

Re: Good Pet Supply Stores The Pet Market is where i get all my cavy supplies. Its a tiny store packed full of high quality foods for all animals. Its the only store around that does not sell animals, and the only store that carries Oxbow.

Re: Good Pet Supply Stores There is a place in St. Petersburg Florida I just found called Pet Food Warehouse. They do NOT sell animals but the other day they did have cats from the Humane Society on display for adoption. Also they sell Oxbow products and any other need you may have in regards to pet products. I know I will be going back there. Also they were super nice and friendly!

Re: Good Pet Supply Stores If their pigs come from breeders, then they are a 'BAD' petstore. If their pigs are from adoption agencies, then they deserve a pat on the back!

Re: Good Pet Supply Stores They get them from people who don't want them and are too lazy to drive an extra 5 minutes to an adoption agency.

Re: Good Pet Supply Stores There is a fantastic pet supply store here in Oak Lawn, Illinois, called "Pet Supplies Plus". They do not sell pets, and have a huge selection of hollistic dog foods for my dog, and all my piggies oxbow needs. Check to see if there's one in your area.

| Re: Good Pet Supply Stores Quote:
Pet Supplies Plus DOES sell animals. The one near me sells guinea pigs that are often sick. They are a chain store, and by buying stuff from them, you are supporting the whole chain. |

Re: Good Pet Supply Stores Theres a store near me called "pet supplies" and they don't sell animals. They also have oxbow. Only animal that I've ever seen in there was one day (couple yrs ago) an employee was hand feeding a very young kitten that someone had dumped there.

Re: Good Pet Supply Stores I know PetValue is only a supply store in MD where I am at. Do they also carry "other" chain stores that do sell animals? If so, I may be boycotting it then, or is it OK to shop at that particular chain that only sell supplies; making it more profitable than its other chain store so the chain on the whole "get the idea" that selling only supplies can & make a profit in business success?? Maybe if we shop & support supply only stores (even if it is a chain store), may set a good example for them to stop selling pets b/c it is more profitable than a store selling pets? I started going to Petvalue (who do not sell animals & not the general Petco/Petsmart pet chain) after "educating" myself on this site (and others, plus watched Oprah's show on Pet Mills). Petvalue is OK right?

Re: Good Pet Supply Stores Yeah PetValue is alright I think. The PetValue I went to had no animals and only good food/toys/cages etc.
