Re: Geckos [quote=Taboo;386235]You know what I mean.. I mean you wouldn't like to be thrown to an animal that is going to kill you and you'd defend yourself too. You sounded like you were angry that rodents would defend themselves and attack reptiles trying to eat them. Well even a 30ft snake couldn't eat me by the time your in teen years your shoulders usually already too big for a snake to get you.If i was thrown a pit with a giant snake(by giant i'm guessing 20ft+).If the snake was an anaconda i wouldn't have to worry since they'er usually tame but,if the snake was a retic i'd have to be aware of whats going on since they are large and fast then i'd just have to grab the head and the tail and point the tail away from me so the snake doesn't skunk me.Then work my way from there. I did read your intro but I don't really believe it. If you'd just come for info you wouldn't have even needed to sign up. I already said why i had to join. Now this thread is getting way off track when can we stop this argument?

Re: Geckos Taboo-way to go. I haven't had time to post, but I think your thinking is right on. Snake Charmer, yes, reptiles do eat rodents as part of the life cycle, but rodents do have means of defending themselves-just because a snake should eat them doesn't mean the rodent should be blamed for harming a snake. I wouldn't stand still and be eaten if I was a rodent either. As for the whole snake pit thing, I think Taboo meant snakes whom were not tame. Considering that they were tame, they aren't very dangerous, although untame snakes can be. Now, thanks to everyone for their help-I now have two beautiful leapard geckos named Amari and Karinna.

OKay, yes thank you for stating all these intricate facts. But, lets state it from a little "rodents" point of veiw. Suddenly your thrown from horendouse conditions with many other animals in a big enclosure. Suddeny, a 7 ft. enemy is coming at you. You see a large head and neck ready to kill. What do you do? Grab him with your hands? Yeah, didn't think so. Your just a defensless animal. You bite. You try to run away. There is no where to go. You get eaten alive. Sounds like fun doesn't it? ANd yes, you've been baiting everyone on this site and I find it very offensive. Should I go on a snake forum and say, I hate those little nasty creepy crwly animals. They are nasty and the only reason I'm on here is to get some crappy little care sheets to please my Mother. Then, I started saying how I killed snakes for fun. How does that make you feel? And when other people start defending the animal or whetever I was targeting, I become defensive and sarcastic. How would that make you feel? I think you should stop saying this stuff and just accept the facts. You won't be able to win on this site when it coems to this stuff your saying. No matter how many threads you respond too. Taboo: I think everyting your saying has been very right and imfomrmative. So, in other words...YOU GO GIRL! Last edited by AnimalHouse36 : 10-07-08 at 05:00 pm. Reason: To thank taboo!!!! |

Re: Geckos Thank you Snake Charmer. I agree with AnimalHouse-if you are hear to collect information for your brother than you are perfectly capable of doing so without baiting us on snakes eating habits and their choice of meals. If you would like to discuss snakes without angering us, perhaps a snake forum would be better for you.

Re: Geckos Guys, feeding pre-killed is entirely the way to go. It's better for the rodent (humane death without fear and terror) AND the reptile (no risk of injury, and most pre-kill rat/mouse farms advertise heavily that they have pesticide-free healthy populations, unlike the pet stores that sell feeders). Give Snake Charmer a break on this already.

Re: Geckos Wow...I thought only people on little kids forums fought this way... Oh well...I really don't have a opinion, animals eat other animals. It's the way it is, God didn't mean for it to be this way, but Adam and Eve kinda wrecked that plan. Whether or not reptiles should be pets is something I don't know much about...I'm sure that reptile lovers love their pets just as much us cavy lovers do. And I think Snake Charmer has a perfect right to be here...I don't think that what he says is in any way mean...though he has different opinions than most of us.

Re: Geckos Reptiles are really not "pets" in the way that most people think of them-they aren't cute, cuddly, and they can be dangerous. I do know a couple people (all close friends) who've adopted reptiles and they love them as much as I love my pets.

Re: Geckos What are you talking about reptiles are cute and only a few are known to be aggressive and most of them are under 5ft average wall there is the infamous retic largest snake on earth, beautiful, large,& usually aggressive but many keepers have raised tame ones. I own two reptiles that are considered a good size one is my favorite my colombian red-tail boa(Hes male so he'll average 6-8ft) and my savanna monitor lizard(Hes male and biggest of his clutch so him being 4ft long won't be much of a surprise). The only reptile you need to watch out for are the HOTS(venomouse)ones when you keep them you have to be careful.
