Re: Icky spam email I got...

Its obvious that I came to the wrong forum to post my opinions about breeders breeding pets. All I have to say is, without breeders you wouldn't have a pet. You can go ahead out to the wild and catch a wild guinea pig and keep it as a pet. Good luck with that. To all the people who think listing a pet online is promoting animal cruelty, think about the food your eating. Next time you eat, don't eat any sort of meat because you're probably promoting animal cruelty yourself. Eat vegetable for the animals sake.

By bidding you are entering into a contract to pay for the item including the specified shipping costs. if you have any questions please ask the seller before bidding. Thank you and good luck with your bid!

Quote:
A responsible pet breeder will always ask their winning bidder to see if they will be able to care for it first before plan to ship off or allow local-pick up of the pet. If the buyer is not capable of this, then the pet shouldn't be sold & shipped off to the buyer.
Doesn't seem like there is an out for a seller once a bid is in place. This whole thing is a recipe for disaster.

Re: Icky spam email I got...

That was one person who clearly hasn't been enlightened to the abolitionist approach.

Truth is I would rather NOT have guinea pigs and I would rather people NOT have any domesticated animals who are all dependent on humans in one way or another and I would rather people NOT have any captive farm animals who are all exploited by humans in one way or another. And since that means I won't have any pets anymore, I guess I'll just have to deal with it when the time comes. Until then, I'll adopt guinea pigs from a rescue, where they were saved and given a chance at a decent life by people who clean up the horrible, ugly mess caused by ALL breeders - I'm making such an inclusive statement because all breeders ARE THE SAME - whether they're backbreeding guinea pigs to ship off to pet stores, or running puppy mills in southern Alabama, or breeding expensive show dogs, THEY ALL CONTRIBUTE TO THE SAME DAMN OVERPOPULATION PROBLEM. All breeding is morally wrong. There is no room for debate.

*Snicker* I nearly spat out my coffee when I read that. My occupation is Online Advertising Senior Optimiser for a UK holiday company. I'm a certified Adwords professional, use MSN Adcentre and Yahoo Panama day in day out. A VERY large portion of the companies revenue comes through our team.

As such I know not everything is marketable online or SHOULDN'T be morally.

Quoting Ebay UK (who you'd think would know):

Quote:
Animals and Wildlife Products

To help conserve native and endangered species, the sale of animals and their parts is subject to a range of UK and Irish legislation. The following guidelines apply to the listing of animal and wildlife items on eBay.co.uk and eBay.ie to help members abide by the law and protect wildlife. If we become aware of any listing that breaks this policy, we will end the listing and may, where appropriate, forward it to the relevant law enforcement agency for action.

Live Animals

Live animals or pets other than the exceptions noted here, may not be listed on eBay. The sales of the following items are permitted, provided that the seller guarantees in the listing that the animals will be packaged safely and posted via next day delivery.

Aquarium or pond fish, snails or similar creatures.
Lobsters, crabs, shellfish and other similar creatures that are live when sold but intended for human consumption.

Live insects, crickets and worms used as bait or feeder food for pets.
In addition, eBay permits the sale of hatching eggs provided the seller offers domestic-only shipping within the UK.

Re: Icky spam email I got...

Uhm...that's a nasty post and I have no idea why they would do that, please remove that email address. That person is not jericho with (name of site removed).org. I'm not even sure why they would post that.

I'm sending the actual xxx this post. For whatever reason, this person is trying to get jericho spammed/flame emails.

Re: Icky spam email I got...

Sorry for the two posts in a row...

I think I have this figured out maybe, but I won't know for sure until Jericho wakes up.

Jericho actually forwarded me the spam email regarding this place, stating that it sounded bad. Here is that mail:

-----Original Message-----
From: security curmudgeon [mailto:jericho@attrition.org]

Subject: (spam) All Pets Bid Released (fwd)

bleh, this sounds bad.. "buy and sell pets for free"
---------- Forwarded message ----------
From: All Pets Bid <admin@allpetsbid.com>

Subject: All Pets Bid Released
Hey guys,
If you received this email, it's probably because one of your family member or friend "forward" it to you.
We are "All Pets Bid" and we need friendly people like you, your family & friends to join us to help make our community grow.
We greatly appreciate your family or friend that has forward this message to you. This message is a notice about our website that is still new and needs friendly people such as you to join our community.
"All Pets Bid" is a website to buy & sell pets for free. We have been patiently waiting for friendly family & friends to join our website, but this has not yet been possible because no one has heard of us yet. That is why we are forwarding this message to as many people as possible.
Our short-term goal is to reach 100,000 registered members. This number may seem big, but with the help of you, your family & friends these numbers are easy to reach. We believe that you may help us achieve our short-term goal by registering at "All Pets Bid".
To help us, we only ask of you 3 things:
* Kindly, we would like you to register for All Pets Bid.
(even if you don't have a pet to buy or sell).
Takes about 10 seconds to register.
* The next thing we would like you to do is "forward" this email to
at least 10 family or friends.
* The last & easiest thing is to tell people about us!
Remember, "All Pets Bid" is a place to buy & sell pets.
We look forward to meeting all of you guys online at our website, whether your listing a pet, buying a pet or just browsing around at all the beautiful pets we have on our website.
Remember, our website would not be possible without your contribution and help, so every person counts.
Thank you for reading this message and helping us achieve our short- term goal. We wouldn't be able to thank you enough.

Kind regards,

Management Team
All Pets Bid

------------------------------------------------------

Now, I'm not sure, but I believe Jericho mentioned having sent them a scathing mail or left a comment on their site. If that is the case, it seems highly likely guineapig08 is actually an admin or owner of allpetsbid.com. The fact that the poster's only posts are on this thread also supports that theory. Generally people join and post something about a guinea pig first...

We'll know later today. If so, it makes the site even worse that the owner would come here and join this site just to defend it, then dropped the email address of someone else who shares our views in order to attempt to get them hate mail.

Re: Icky spam email I got...

I will just say that guineapig08's email address listed on file is from the same org, but with a different name at the beginning. So not sure what's up with that.
