| Flag CraigsList Breeder Ads It's that time of year AGAIN. Breeders are trying to sell their "Easter Pets" on craigslist classifieds: jobs, housing, personals, for sale, services, community, events, forums Breeders are NOT allowed to sell on Craigslist. Sometimes they try to fool the public by saying they are charging an adoption fee but they are still actually selling. I would like everyone to check their local CraigsList ads daily. At this time of year "Easter" is the keyword to use. You can also search by animal species (rabbit, guinea pig, rat, etc). I also recommend searching with the word "feeder" as many small animal breeders list their animals as reptile feeders. Find the ads, paste the URLs here (for more members to flag) and don't forget to flag them yourself . To flag an ad; click on the link, the ad will open (usually in a new window) in the upper right hand corner (sometimes on the left) should be a box of clickable choices, click on "prohibited". That's all you need to do. If enough people flag it it will get automatically removed. If you click the link and it says "This item has been flagged for removal" then it's already down (Hurray!). Be certain to check under sales, community and services (and if you have time search all sections). Most of the breeders know they aren't allowed to sell on Craigslist and will try to hide their listings a bit so they don't get flagged as quickly. Unfortunately I'll start us off. Please flag Easter Guinea pigs http://batonrouge.craigslist.org/pet/585996228.html Feeder Rats http://neworleans.craigslist.org/pet/585710928.html Last edited by VoodooJoint : 03-10-08 at 12:41 pm. |

| Re: CraigsList Easter Pets I just checked and these 2 have already been removed. I will keep my eyes open. My neighbor kinda ticked me off the other day. We have new batch of chicks hatching and she said I should color them and sell them for Easter. I told her, "uhhhh, no, I don't think so." That wasn't why we were hatching chicks. By the time these get old enough to lay (in about a year) we will surely have lost some of our current hens to hawks or they may just stop laying or die. OUt of the 30 ish chicks we had out of our first batch, we only have 2 left that made it to egg laying age. They just started laying recently. |

| Re: CraigsList Easter Pets EASTER BUNNIES - 8/9 week old rabbits So would something like this be prohibited by craigslist? I'm happy to spend a few minutes every day looking and flagging at random places (very few postings like this in the UK section). White bunny rabbits This says it's a "legal agricultural sale" Kinda confused |

| Re: CraigsList Easter Pets This one isn't an Easter pet, but it is a breeder cage: http://houston.craigslist.org/grd/578047383.html Here's one that was raised for consuming purposes and being sold for it too. Cuddly Easter Bunny Rabbits Here's another breeder cage: Rabbit breeding cages |

| Re: CraigsList Easter Pets This isn't from a breeder, but both makes me want to punch someone: Rabbit/Ferret/guinea pig cage Large Guinea Pig exercise ball - only used 3 times This one is from the woman I rescued York from (for those of you that remember that tragic story): guinea pigs - Obviously, Animal Control didn't care enough to shut down her filthy hole. Anyway, I don't really know what to think of this one. 35 GPs sounds like breeding to me. 2 female guinea pigs This one is blatant breeding. Their website offers good info about the care of GPs, but it's still breeding. Guinea Pigs |

| Re: CraigsList Easter Pets Keep in mind people that we are flagging the people that are breaking Craigslist rules by breeding/selling. There is no rule against selling cages, exercise balls, etc.. I agree that those things are horrible, and if you want to email the seller to let them know what the problem is feel free, but we shouldn't be flagging them because we do not want Craigslist to change it's flagging policy. Good job though, almost everything is down. |

Don't worry if you accidentally flag something. It takes a lot of flags to bring something down. One or two won't do it. P.S. The link above the post I quoted doesn't work. |

I'm pretty sure this one is a breeder Bunnies (calif/new zealand mix) I don't think this one is a breeder (it may be), but oh dear "its 2 weeks old" & "its loving" guinea pig baby There was also another one...grrr... "My daugher has two and she does not have time for two so I made her pick on or the other" People make me so mad sometimes. |
