I also tell them they can email me back if they have any questions. I have had a couple actually interested and asking me where to find supplies. I even put a post on craigslist about this site and making a bigger cage.
I do the same thing. Most people thank me for the information, and ask where to get supplies, but this one guy just ignored me and posted a different ad saying he wanted a medium sized cage that would "comfortably" house two males.

I think they could still be breeders, judging by the way the ad sounds. Thats a great idea to email them, though. I'm not sure what to say, what did you say?
I was thinking I would tell them that the cavies are too young to be seperated from their mothers, and ask them if they bred the guinea pigs on purpose or not.
EDIT: I also flagged it just in case.

I emailed them as nicely as I could letting them know that 2 weeks is too young and that, unless parents are going to be responsible for the guinea pigs, that they are not the best for kids. I mentioned about making sure of the sexes. I also mentioned that they are not as inexpensive as you might think. I gave them the guinea lynx site and this website too.

It may not help, but I tried!

I'm gonna flag them too.

Re: Flag CraigsList Breeder Ads

Ok, so while looking for rabbit hutches for my parents, I came across this...a breeder, right? (i've never spotted one officially, so sorry for being dense/unsure :P)

Gorgeous Mini Rex/ Dutch Mix Rabbits

EDIT: The more I read it over, the more obvious it seems.

It's definitely a breeder and they aren't even housing them properly with their poor little feet on wires! The people who buy those are going to be totally clueless. Hopefully enough people flag it.

Re: Flag CraigsList Breeder Ads

Isn't it prohibited on Craigslist to give away animals without an adoption fee? I mean, it says "no pet sales or breeding please -- rehoming with small adoption fee OK". There's also this on why not to say "free to good home": craigslist | about > PETA

Re: Flag CraigsList Breeder Ads

I don't think it is a rule on Craigslist that you can't post them as "free to good home", but more that they are saying it is never a good idea to post them as "free to good home."
At least that is how I'm reading it.
Lots of people who can't afford the vet get them that way.

I don't know that I would flag it, I might e-mail her and politely explain to her that a male companion is not the best idea.

Re: Flag CraigsList Breeder Ads

guinea pigs for adoption

This ad is suspicious to me. She has been on craigslist for a long time, easy to tell because of how she ends her ads. She has been saying she needs to quickly get rid of the pigs so she can move, yet she keeps posting new ads with more new pigs she has taken in.

Hmmmm...I don't know about this one. I haven't flagged it yet, but I'll wait and see what other people have to say about it. If you have a cell phone, you could try calling the number and try to tactfully get more information that way. I think I'm going to wait to see what other people on here think about it, though.

Re: Flag CraigsList Breeder Ads

I found this one this morning. I was appalled, and emailed the lady immediately trying to inform her of the err of her ways. Got a nasty email back from her, too.
