Re: Little Cage

Ilovebabe,
You are the same age as my daughter and just barely older than my son; they are in 7th and 5th grades. I would never in a million years allow either of them to breed guinea pigs (or any other animal, for that matter). Not only would it be very expensive - and you have already said that cost is a consideration for you - it would be very time-consuming and difficult. I won't repeat what others have said here about thinking of the piggies' welfare as they have said everything much better than I ever could.

So, I'm going to go into "Mom-mode": do you really understand what you want to get into with breeding baby guinea pigs? Yes, I know they are cute and cuddly and adorable. I also know you love Babe (and Jack!) very much. Think about the time you spend now looking after Babe: feeding her, spending time with her, cleaning her cage, things like that. Now multiply that amount of time many times over. Would that leave you with enough time to do your homework, study, visit with your friends, spend time with your family? Cute babies may be, but are you REALLY ready for the HUGE responsibility? Because that's exactly what you're taking on: a BIG RESPONSIBILITY. These aren't toys, or video games, or CDs that you can just throw into a corner and forget about when you grow tired of them. You are talking about bringing living, breathing, sentient beings into the world. You will have to take care of them. Are you really ready for that? Does your mom think you're really ready? Somehow I doubt it. THINK about what you're considering. If you can't afford to have Jack neutered... then you can't afford to breed babies either.
Please, have Jack neutered and keep both Jack and Babe together as friends... but NOT as mom and dad to baby piggies.

Re: Little Cage

i agree with you, Edenlynn, but there is absolutely no way to get IloveBaby to Realize it, so i could give her so many good reasons and solutions and stuff so she would not breed, and they would go in one ear and out the other, so i will not waste our time, and i don't think she is reading this anymore

Re: Little Cage

Same. Look, we have given her 6 pages on why not to breed. She hasn't been back and she hasn't responded to our points.

Re: Little Cage

And it all could have been avoided by taking Jack to the vet and getting him better. Then get Jack neutered. Then in 3 weeks she could have a non-breeding boar/sow pair. It's rather simple, really.

Re: Little Cage

She said she couldn't afford it. She couldn't even get any C&C. She has two pet store cages. I don't know how she can tend to the babies or an emergency spay, or any other problems that may arise.

Re: Little Cage

IF she could of afforded 2 pet store cages she could have afforded a C&C, Pet store cages are usually 30-50 each so she bought two thats about 60-100 and for that she could have got C&C cage.

If she couldn't afford vet bills, then she should not have acquired any pigs in the first place.

Re: Little Cage

I totally agree. She shuold re think her whole breeding plan if this is the kind of lack of care being provided.

Re: Little Cage

Yes, I just saw that. Quite frankly, I highly doubt it's her sister. I think it's her trying to get away with coming back on so she doesn't have to face our wrath!()
