Re: Little Cage If you love your piggies you should seriously reconsider breeding them. You should also calm down. No one is trying to offend you.

Re: Little Cage You're waiting three weeks to put your boar and sow together so you can have wittle babies? Or you're waiting three weeks until your boar is better so you can get him neutered? Which is it? I don't care if you wait three weeks. You're still needlessly breeding two guinea pigs that came from pet mills or backyard breeders, but some people have to learn the hard way I guess. If you want to guarantee that she won't die, then don't breed her. Breeding her will cut her life span shorter at the very least.

Re: Little Cage You are missing the whole point {directed to ilovebabe}- This forum is not breeder friendly, they are trying to convince you not to breed. They do not care if you are waiting three weeks. Waiting three weeks will not bring any less risk to your female during pregnancy. Nor will help the over population of animals. We are just trying to tell you breeding is not safe for the female cavy, or good for the over population of animals. We would all very much like it if you don't breed. If you refuse to take our advice, or at least read what we have to say and let that sink in, and keep yelling at us for advising against breeding. Then perhaps you should find another forum that will gladly support you in breeding your cavies. There are many breeder friendly forums out there. I do not mean to sound rude, but after all this is a not breeder friendly forum. Almost all of the people here will not support your decision to breed.

| Re: Little Cage It can range from $30 (which is what it costs for me) to $200 to neuter a cavy. Make sure you find an experienced exotic vet that has neutered cavies before. http://www.cavyspirit.com/neutering.htm If you can't {or don't want to neuter} your cavy then you will need to adopt another female to pair with Babe, and another male to pair with Jack (I think that is his name). And of course both pairs (male and female) will need to be separated at all times, preferably the males be housed in a different area (room) than the females. | Re: Little Cage well you should start saving some money to buy a box of cubes and 2 sheets of coroplast. One box of cubes can give you 2 2x4 cages and its enough for 2 piggies in each. For coroplast it should cost no more than 10 to 15 dollars a sheet. |

Re: Little Cage If you cant afford to keep both separated then you cant afford babies either. think it that way. They will keep having babies until they cant do no more. we currently have 20 gps and one is due soon. We made sure that we can afford all of them and have money put away for them. None of them were breeded at all.

Re: Little Cage I nutered both my boys using my own money. I made enough to do it by doing odd jobs and collecting bottles and loose change. My mom lent me the extra. You should really consider getting him nuetered. It was the best thing I ever did for them.

Re: Little Cage I agree with Cinn. Try your best and try to build 2 nice C&C cages for at least 50 dollars. I hope you can keep both of them and try to do a C&C cages. Good luck Ilovebabe.

Re: Little Cage If you can't afford to get your male pig neutered, how do you expect to afford to feed more pigs? If she has 2 babies, it will cost you an extra $240/year. That is more than the cost of neutering. If she has 6 babies (could easily happen), it will cost you an extra $720/year. Will your mom be happy when the cage becomes huge and she has to shell out all that extra money per month? Think she will let you keep all your pigs? Still think you can afford babies?

Re: Little Cage Think about that. When we got Peanut from our friend she told us that Peanut may be pregnant. we told her its ok we will keep them and we thought maybe 2 or 3.Not she had 5 and Muffy had 2. Then Sqeakers is due and not sure how many she will have. The room that we have the piggies in their cage is bigger than a king size bed. Take a king size bed and a twin size, put them together thats how big the cage is now. Go ahead and see the pic it is posted up there. the girls are in a 5x6 and the boys are in a 3x5. we werent expecting Peanut to have 5. We werent expecting Muffy and Squeakers to have babies too.
