Re: Little Cage

Actually, anything over $20 is a rip off. The normal cost for coroplast is $8-$20, in Ohio any way.

Re: Little Cage

That cage is WAY too small! We took in a pig last year that was housed in such a cage. She popcorned and ran laps while quarantined in a humble 2x3 C&C.

We used to keep our pigs singly in aquariums and to be quite honest, they looked miserable. One piggie used to squeal and chatter when going back into the old cage. Pigs need lots of room to run and play, and that works best with a buddy. Now our pigs are housed in comfy 3x4 C&C's (see my gallery), and that particular pig burbles happily when placed in his home, especially if one of his spayed buddies are around.

One should reconsider getting a pet if proper care cannot be offered to said pet.

I see you're not into ethical business practices. Overcharging the piggie-cage segment is discriminatory and may also be considered price gouging, a crime.

well first off i want to own my own business so i know a bit about selling stuf and i also know that raising the price is how you make money. They dont know its for a guinea pig cage and they dont care... it costs what it cost. Price gouging refers to raising the price during an emergency.. like flash lights during 9/11 for example... charging a higher price than competetors isnt price gouging. And in some parts and towns and what not 20 dollars is cheap .

No, it's not. By raising prices people will stop buying the product and/or go elsewhere.

I agree with this. No matter how many plastic stores I contact about coroplast that I need for my rescue, they always charge the same price, even though they know we always need it.

I didn't notice flash lights going up in price.

If someone charged a higher price then competetors, they wouldn't be in business.

Actually it's not. It's on the higher side for a 4x8 sheet or coroplast. By reading this forum and many others, I have learned that anything over $20 is expensive and a rip off. That goes for all over the world.

Re: Little Cage

ilovebabe:
how big is your new cage? do your two pigs get along?

Katie & Dagwell-- your both wrong about one thing. some places do care if its for a cage. if you need it to make a cage they have no worry about you making signs yourself with the coro, rather then paying them to make the signs for you. I went to a sign store and it was going to be $15 for a 4x8, i was talking to the couple who owns it and they asked what it was for. told them it was for a pigs cage and they said ohhhh!! and changed me $12 for it. so yes, it does sometimes make a difference.

Re: Little Cage

Yeah I agree. I was going to get correx for my cage so I e mailed some stores saying that it was for a guinea pg cage, so they knocked the price down a bit but it was still so expensive considering the delivery charge

Re: Little Cage

I got a sheet of choroplast for $9 at a sign supply store. $25 sounds way too expensive.

Some places by you, yes, but every place I have talked to around me, and over the interent do not care one bit. They know we need it, so they know we will buy it regardless of the price.

Secondly, they don't make signs for us, they just sell the coro.

Re: Little Cage

First of all, Signs shops are not normally sign suppliers. Most of them stock Coroplast to make signs out of. Most sign shops that I know of do stock material of all sorts to make signs for and to make a profit. I, myself, am one of those people in business. I, do give corplast to the local Guinea Pig rescue to help out. My local sign supplier here in Va. Beach, has a different price for (john q public), but will sell it to anyone at my price if they let them know I sent them and what it is for. My advice to anyone out there, don't fall victim to those high prices unless it's your only choice. No amount of money is too much when it comes to the care and love of Guinea Pigs, or any animal as far as that goes.

1 yes i am and i know what i want to do when i grow up.
Raising prices is called a mark up if you sold it at the same price they wouldnt make money. If people buy it at that price they'll buy it.
The price is the price if its for guinea pigs or for signs.
Flashlights didnt go up in price because that would be price gouging and ILLEGAL thats why you didnt notice it.
If they charged a higher price some people are too lazy to look around.
Where i live the lowest price i could get was $ 20 and thats because of where i live im sure i could have wasted gas money but why would i i dont think 20$ is that bad for a guinea pig cage anyway.
