No!!

Earlier today, me and my mom were out shopping, well we were going by the mall, and I saw they were putting a new store in, I asked my mom "What store are they putting in?" she replied, "I don't know, look at the sign", so I did, and it said PETCO! *screaches* NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! I yelled "Oh no! their putting in a petco!" She said nothing, than I asked where all are we going, she named a bunch of places, and at the end she said, "And PetSmart." I said "WHAT?!" She said, I didn't have time to order the kittens food online, so we have to go to PetSmart to get it, I said, "I'm not going in!" well that apparently didn't work, because I ended up going in, and, get this, the guinea pigs were actually all sperated from each other in different cages, BUT, they were not even the size a a 1x2 cage, and they ACTUALLY had a hay wheel FULL of hay! AND they had a bowl of veggies, but there were seeds, and colored bits in their food, and their water was yellowish orange! I commented really loud "EEWW! Their water is yellow!!" Because their was someone nearby looking at them, and they looked at the water bottle, and made a face and walked away . I hate shopping there!

Re: No!!

Is there no pet food stores near you that don't sell animals? I buy my dog food at the vet, but all other pet foods and products I get at Pet Valu, it is a pet store that does not sell any animals. You should look online to find a store like that, then if this situation happens again, you can tell your mom, and go there instead.

Re: No!!

Yeah, if there are any big warehouse like stores or feed stores they tend to have good stuff. We have a blue seal feeds that has everything I need - Dog food, real pig food, goat food, cat food, and thry have Oxbow. I would look around.

Re: No!!

I don't think their are any, but I will do some research. The dog, and cat food we get, they don't sell in Walm-Mart, or SamsCLub, or Target, just at PetSmart, and online, but we can get out litter at SamsClub really cheap, for a 50 lb. bag. Thankfully when we move, we will be moving to a much bigger town!

Re: No!!

I think the town you're moving to actually has an awesome pet shop called "All Pets Considered". They don't sell any animals, hopefully it'll be close to you.

Re: No!!

Unfortunately, even pet shoppes that don't sell pets aren't always a good choice. We have one near us that would be wonderful if that was all that counted. Unfortunately, they have an entire wall covered with ads from various backyard breeders of any number of breeds of dogs and some cats. Sigh.

Re: No!!

Yeah, I know. My mom is just going to order the food online after we move, she said she doesn't want to order it now, because she doesn't want it to come here and us not be here, but what I don't get is: we know when we are moving, so it should be fine to do this.

Re: No!!

I go to a livestock feed store. They have everything we need to feed our pets, and a lot of extra things for them to play with, too.

Re: No!!

Ugh, that sucks.
My local mall also has a petstore. It's not a petsmart or petco but it's no good. Sometimes they have Guinea Pigs mixed with Rabbits and they don't have any veggies. The other day I was in there and I heard one of the sales person telling a couple that "shelters are full of diseases, that's why it's better to buy pets from petstores". I was like :O and talked to the couple and to the sales person. They looked at me like if I was crazy.

Re: No!!

sammy+peanut, we don't have a feedstore that I know of around here, and even if we did, they wouldn't carry our cat and dog food, because they show a list online where they carry it, and unfortunately if you don't get it off there websites, the only place you CAN get it is PetSmart or Petco.

Re: No!!

It's hard to not somehow support the ill habits of "petstores" We see puppies ALL the time from the two closest mall petstores. They often don't even look like the breeds they are "papered" to be. A vet seminar said the formula for markup of a puppy for a petstore is 70%. That means, all those yucky puppies you see in the paper for $250 are being bought up by petstores and resold or "financed" for $1000. But come on guys, NO MONEY DOWN!! (get real) I have issues with petstores!
